Eek Katie Couric Reportedly Has Only 3 Days to Prove If Her Talk Show Stays Or Goes!?

According to Page Six maven Cindy Adams, Katie Couric's new syndicated talk show, Katie, is being given only three days to prove a hit or a miss when it debuts this fall. Said Adams:

We’ve seen television favorites yanked off shows despite contractual obligations. Katie Couric’s ABC daytimer debuts September. So when will TV hotshots determine her new effort’s hot or not? Two years? Three seasons? Six episodes? Care to hear precisely exactly how long their eyes take to decide? You won’t believe it. But believe it.

Three days.

Day 1, everybody tunes in. Day 2, it’s those watching a second time plus whoever missed the first program. By Day 3, the tinkering begins, but to suits in those offices if the ratings aren’t solid gold, it’s already all over.

Three days to tell if Katie’s A-OK. And please don’t insult me by saying I don’t know what I’m talking about. I know what I’m talking about because I know what they are talking about.

It's a syndicated series like Oprah. Won't be a set time and not on all ABC stations (it will be DISTRIBUTED by ABC). Can air on any affiliate. http://www.katiecouric.com/station-finder/

^Yes, I've known that Katie Couric's show is going to be a syndicated one (after checking that site, I see it's going to be on the NBC affiliate in my TV market).

its going to air on our local NBC affiliate

three days seems ridiculous - unless she has some unbelievable guests and segments and all the other channels have a blackout or technical difficulties I don't see how this is even worth the bother.

It will be on my ABC affiliate here in NY @ 3pm. Since its ABC that's producing the syndicated show, ABC has given the option to affiliated stations for ABC to air the show in the 3pm time slot if they choose to do so.

That was from a page six article, so...

Syndicated series do not just get three days.

I'm curious to see the layout of the show and what topics Katie will cover. I don't think the show will be a mass success - especially since many daytime fans are firing back. A three day trial is laughable for any show. After a month or so, if she's doing awful, something will need to be done. It seems like they're banking on her though. She's been promoted more than any other new talk show, so far.

For her to only have 3 days she must be getting paid $66 million a episode
