NOW FEATURING...GILLIGAN THE GODDESS
Applause!! Applause!!! Applause!!! This is one of my favorite episodes--I
think it is one of the funniest. You can't beat King Kalawani! He is hilarous! I laugh even thinking about this episode. I love the, "You care to dance?" and the "Mahulahamba what?" Poor guy with 33 wives who don't understand him! Someone should write a fanfiction with another run-in with him! What the (heck) is Maryann wearing in her hair in the opening scene? It looks like something from "The Flintstones." And it's so strange because she never had any way out thing in her hair before! It's amazing how all the white goddesses ended up with the same exact outfit--I like the way they added the leaves on the sleeves. It's also pretty strange how Ginger had TWO USO costumes--just her own I could have lived with. It's interesting how Gilligan really does look passable as compared to the other men. Was that cleverly achieved just by putting worse outfits and too much makeup on the others or does Bob Denver just fit the white goddess bill better somehow? That reminds me of more hilarity--priceless, when Lovey walks in on them and exclaims her surprise! And also, who can forget, "Thurston, have you gone out of your mind!" Her response is just perfect in the situation! Once more, her pink dress is being used to dress the men in drag--what is it about that dress--and does she ever wear it herself? Wow! That trampling scene in the beginning! Could someone really survive that unscathed? What's up with Gilligan in the last scene? He puts up with that goddess facade, obviously sick to death of doing it and then claims he is moving out the Skipper's stuff because he is "royalty"???? Well...if there had to be an unexpectedly last episode, this was a good note on which to end--it is one of the funniest and also ties in some major elements of the series such as natives and...of course...rescue (or not!). end, I think. |

I agree, the King was one of the funniest guest characters they ever had. I love the line "Ship come. Captain give me Eternal Flame. Plus one can Eternal Lighting Fluid".
And I also get a kick out the way he would answer when someone addressed him, with nasal sound like a duck call. "King!!" "Hah?" Funny performance! |
