Man, 70, Rides Roller Coaster 7,000 Times

Kings Island amusement park
A 70-year-old man has taken his 7,000th ride on the Diamondback roller coaster at Kings Island amusement park in Ohio. Gary Coleman of Monfort Heights, Ohio, began riding the 230-foot-tall steel coaster when it opened in 2009. Initially, it was just for fun, but it soon turned into a passion, UPI reported. Coleman, a minister, took his historic ride on the Fourth of July sporting a T-shirt with the number 7,000 written across it, according to The Associated Press.

"I've always loved roller coasters since I've been a kid," he told ABC News. "It's been a hobby. It's what I like to do. I like to relax doing it. It's a form of relaxation." The Diamondback is the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Kings Island, and park officials told the AP that Coleman's distance can be measured by someone traveling across the United States and more than halfway back again. His goal is to hit 10,000 rides by the end of next year.

Good for him, but not for me. I liked them a little in my teens, but now, never.
