Default Okay Sol, What Do You Think of John Burns?

You've mentioned some other characters but I'm curious about John Burns. I personally like the character, though I much prefer Jim Ignatowski. I never understood all the John hate. Even the people working on the show didn't care for the character.

I don't know. I liked the character well enough. It didn't seem like the producers knew what to do with the character though.

I mean of all the characters to leave in order to make room for Jim, John was the obvious one to go but I liked his character while he was there.

I don't think it was hate as much as indifference. He really didn't bring that much to the table.

That's how I felt about him. Who knows, though...if he'd stayed maybe they'd have been able to show more depth to him. Sometimes it takes a while for a character to find his place on a show. Then again, most of the time the character is gone before he's able to, though, lol.

Yeah, I don't know, I just think he didn't fit as well with the group. Everybody else was single or divorced and he was married. It just clashed IMO

I think the problem was the cast was so good that they just overshadowed him.

I guess another thing is the job desires the characters chased after. Bobby was an actor. Tony was a boxer. Elaine was in the art world. John, wanted to be a forrest ranger and it's only mentioned one time. The episodes where John was the focus, dealt with his relationship with Suzanne and not pursuing his dream job like Bobby's and Tony's main episodes were.

I get what everyone is saying.

Yeah, lol. There's not much they could have done with that.
