Confused Why is called 'Dallas' if its actually in Houston?

why is it called 'Dallas' if it takes place in Houston? (If there is a specific reason behind it besides the name sounds better.)

It in fact takes place in Dallas. Not sure where you heard it's in Houston but that's not true.

Okay maybe I just was confused because a lot of times people will say "right here in Houston" when talking about some things on the show... so its confusing.

I was born and raised in Dallas and I can attest that the show really did take place there. I've been to Southfork, which is a real place, but I don't think they do tours anymore. When I went we could only drive up to the gate and peer at the very long driveway at the ranch house! They did the show mostly in Dallas but I know that it took place in other cities as well. It was just based in Dallas.

It doesn't matter where they film it because the new Dallas sucks!

The old one was legendary.

They in fact continue to do tours there all the time! It operates as a major tourist attraction and they are back filming there.
I love the original but the new one, for now, is doing a pretty fine job I think, at least these latest episodes. That could change but at the moment I am enjoying it on the level of the old days.

Don't jump the gun just yet & say it "sucks" - its been ...30+ years since 'Dallas' premiered. Times change people. Do you expect it all to be 70's again?

I like the new Dallas. I loved the original a lot better, but I enjoy watching J.R. and Bobby again.

The Wentworths are from Houston. Perhaps that is where you are getting that from.
