Default Camille saved this show from being a Disaster in my opinion

I think Camille saved this show form being disaster and thanks to her advice this show was a big success! Originally Cliff was suppose to be a Limo driver and Claire was going to be a plumber! But then Mrs Cosby told her husband that the show should portray a Successful Africa America Family, NBC And Bill Cosby listened to Camille and changed there minds and so Cliff became a doctor and Claire became a lawyer instead and decided to make the Huxtables successful African-America Family, That was a big part of the show Successful and part of why they were Number 1 in ratings for five Years! I just can not see that working with Cliff a limo Driver and Claire a plumber! I do not thinks the show would have been successful at all if they went with their original idea! and it would have only lasted a season or 2. Thank Gosh they listed to Camille advice as I think she saved the show from being a disaster and flop.

It would have still been a family with two working parents so I don't think their occupations was the reason the show was a hit.

But it wouldn't be The Cosby Show that we grew up on. The story lines would have been different in some ways I believe.

I agree. What made TCS good was that it was a family show. We hardly ever saw them at their jobs at all.

I still disagree, it could have been interesting storylines with the other occupations too

For one they wouldn't have had the life that they had. I think that the show would have had more episodes about finances. I think that they would have been a struggling family and a lot of the episodes would have focused on that. That is why I think the show would have been different. They wouldn't have had the episode when Theo had the house party and broke everything in the house. I don't think that we would have seen Elvin and Sandra living in that small dingy apartment. The episode when Cliff and Theo went to buy a new family car, that whole episode probably wouldn't exist or it would have been completely different. And I doubt that they would have had all of those people living in their house at once, like they were in the finale season.

It doesn't matter when you have a mortgage and raising 5 children with one in College.

I've heard that on the contrary, it was unrealistic to make Claire a lawyer. What I mean is when The Cosby Show first aired, women with five children were in all likelihood, not lawyers. You'd be hard pressed to find a female lawyer back then and even more hard pressed to find a woman with five kids, all still living at home, working outside the home in a male dominated industry.

Claire was going to be a plumber? I believe I read somewhere that she was going to be a housewife.
