Default Were you ever entertained by TV Characters who were drunk?

I don't know about anyone else but there is nothing about a drunk person to me that is funny. And I always hated when a tV character was not their regular self because they were in a bar or some kind of situation that caused them to drink. It's just one thing about sitcoms I never liked and I think all my favorite TV sitcoms had a drunk character.

I guess one main reason would be is I'm not in a bar or any place where I would see a drunk person so that's why I find myself not entertained by a drunken TV character

Maybe that character because he was a wino and not someone who was a regular. But not someone who you are used to seeing as a regular person. Like I just watched a episode of Rhoda when she was drunk because she was locked in a bathroom with her boss who had a bottle of wine with him. I didn't want to see the Rhoda character like that.

My other favorite characters who come to mind when I hated seeing them drunk

George Jefferson
Jack Tripper
Mr. Roper
Florence the Maid
Janet Wood

On Three's Company, Jack got drunk in the first episode of season 7. He was so ANNOYING, and I've always liked Jack a lot. But in that episode, he really got under my skin. It was when he insisted that Janet let him see her grandmother's vase. He threw a fit and had a temper tantrum, so Janet let him hold the vase. And of course, Jack dropped and broke the vase.
Not funny at all. Just annoying.

When he was drunk in season 6 he was more entertaining because he was dancing. But for a character who is drunk and just falling around and being annoying is not fun to watch

Yes, I remember in season six Janet took him to some fancy party on an island. Jack took a tranquillizer because he was afraid to fly. And then when he got to the party, he began to get drunk. He was funny in that one because like you said, he was dancing, acting silly and being hilarious. When he got drunk in season 7, he was just annoying.

Yeah that scene in the bedroom with him grabbing the Vase and acting like a Nut was very annoying.

I hate when sitcom characters get drunk! The worst episode for me was King of Queens when Doug and Arthur were getting Carrie drunk every night to put her in a better mood.

It would depend on the character & the situation. The accidental getting drunk situations are usually the best ones. An example is The Andy Griffith Show where Barney gets drunk from the water cooler where Otis had stashed his alcohol. That was pretty entertaining. But if a character goes to a bar or party & gets drunk, thats usually not as funny, and it can even be a little sad sometimes.

Now I don't really care for characters who are drunk, but there are a few that made me laugh.
Otis on The Andy Griffith Show was a hilarious drunk. The things he did and said were so funny.
I did like the episodes of The Dick Van Dyke show when Rob was doing a skit and was acting drunk, so hilarious. Then there was an episode where he was hypnotized to think he was drunk, I was rolling with laughter.
I loved it when Lucy on I Love Lucy got drunk on Vitameatavegamin, I was laughing my head off.
I loved any of the episodes when Daphne got drunk on Frasier, the girl couldn't hold her liquor at all and when she got drunk she would say and do some of the most hilarious things.

I didn't like the episode of Family Matters when that creep spiked Steve's drink and got him drunk. He fell of the roof and almost died. That wasn't the least bit funny.
I didn't care for the episode of Fresh Prince when Will got drunk to impress Jackie and ended up getting really sick. That wasn't funny at all.
I didn't care for the episode of Full House when Kimmy got drunk, it just wasn't funny. Kimmy was so rude and annoying when she was drunk.

Now I'm torn about the episode of The Cosby Show when Vanessa got drunk because even though it was funny, what they did was very dangerous and they did it on purpose.
I feel the same way about the episode of Roseanne when Becky got drunk, they were funny when they were drunk but they got drunk on purpose and it was very stupid.

I was entertained by tv characters who were drunk, whether it was the main or supporting character. Darrin Stephens was funny as a drunk as well as Dick Wilson who played a drunk in the bar scenes. For sitcoms you gained a new insight into Archie and Meathead when they got locked in the storage room and drank on All In The Family. Lucy was always funny as a drunk and on other sitcoms where drinking was part of a serious episode.

I LOVED Dick Wilson's drunk on Bewitched. What made it ironic was the fact that he never drank in real life. Ditto Hal Smith (aka Otis Campbell).

If they do it right, then it's super funny. And John Ritter (as Jack) and Lucille ball (as Lucy) did it right.

Also, drunk Ron Swanson.

I have a better question:

Were you ever entertained by TV characters while you were drunk?
