Default Laurie Metcalf, I am so very, very sorry

I think LM is one of the best TV actresses ever. And I've always heard she was a very nice person. I saw a recent interview of her on TV. Does anyone know what happened to her? Is she sick or was she in an automobile accident? Her face looked so deformed. I felt such pity for this talented, kind woman. Her eyes were as huge as saucers and her lips were very swollen and distended greattly. Her neck appeared to have many layers of skin on it. My six-year old walked into the room and screamed. He cried and asked what is wrong with that lady's face? I didn't know what to say so I told him not to worry, that it was a Halloween mask that she could wash off. Does anyone know what happened?

Nothing as far as I know. She did recently get divorced though.

Oh, thank God. Thanks for posting the picture. Maybe she WAS wearing a mask in the interview I saw. How old is she, though? I thought she was around Roseanne's age? I didn't realize she was older (although she doesn't look THAT much older). I'd place her in her mid to late 60's.

I'm sorry, but was 57 a typo? If not, then, well, I guess I am just speechless. She must have had a very hard life. I hope she finds some peace in her final years.

Final years? Is she sick? She's 57 and you have her knocking on death's door.

No, 57 was not a typo. And I'm sure these are not her final years. She could live another 35 years or so for all we know.

Oh no, not at all. It's just that in the picture that was posted, she didn't look like she had much time left. Maybe five years or so. But my goodness, it could be ten or more with all the advances of modern medicine. I wish her much peace and hope she has no discomfort when she goes. I hope she just goes quietly in her sleep with no pain or suffering. Like I said, she seems like a real nice lady.

I loved her on Roseanne too and also in that movie, Internal Affairs. I saw her years ago (before Roseanne) in a stage production of Balm in Gilead. She had a twenty minute dialogue that was beyond riveting. There are no words to describe her performanxe. I have honestly never seen anything like it before or since. She is the reason I started watching Roseanne. She played a prostitute (named Darlene ironically) and her character was so sad and hopeless and you just knew her life would never get any better. Anyway, like I said, I do hope she has a few good years left.

You are really weird and a bit of a drama queen. There is something not right with YOU, not Laurie Metcalf. The woman is only 57 years old. She is not dying either, but you talk as if she has terminal cancer. Why would you even say something as sick and stupid as " I hope she just goes quietly in her sleep with no pain or suffering." ? You are so over the top and strange. There is something seriously wrong with you thinking that she looks like she only has another five years left. She looks just fine....like a normal, average 57 year old.
