So I was watching some shows from way back then, including Dallas. And then shows today, probably particuarlarly sitcoms, there is such a difference in the shows. Specifically speaking the camera (??) I am assuming. I don't quite know how to describe or ask it but the only way I can say is shows now are more staged and 3-D. When I look at shows then, its not "staged", its not 3-D, its not like the camera is following the actor around.
I don't know how to describe what I'm trying to describe. The quality of the show? If anyone can help me, please do. Anyone else notice a difference too??? |

I think I know what you are referring to.--There is a big difference in how the older shows were filmed.Simply put,the camera work and direction was much better. On the the older shows the viewer does not even think about the camera, and that is how it is supposed to be.That is why on the older programs every thing looks a lot better and more natural.--Modern shows look like they were filmed by 6 year old children.

I know that I had to quit watching Longmire on TNT because the constant "shaky cam" was making me dizzy. I really dislike that kind of filming and that's probably why I don't watch a lot of modern programming because it's extremely overused. Still shots, at least for me, keep me more interested and focused on the action.

"Shaky Cam" makes you feel like you are witnessing what the person is seeing. LOL. I feel your pain, though. It's like "enough, already!" |
