Well, I've been asked to write another FanFic, so if you're willing to go through the pain of reading it, I'm willing to put forth the effort and make an attempt at writing it...

Here is what I have so far, I hope it isn't too disappointing....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Monday morning the sun shown brighter, it seemed, just to annoy Jinny. She could find nothing in her life, presently, to waste such a beautiful day on. She had been suspended from her job for drinking, though she had been back for about three months. She was pretty much broke and had long since maxed out her credit cards, forcing her to return home to live with her alcoholic father. She was slowly getting back on her feet. And to top everything else off she had yet to get her boyfriend, Theodore Blumenthal to call her in that entire three month period. She knew it was most likely over between them, but she just couldn’t seem to let him go. That’s the reason she hated to get into a serious relationship.)

(Jinny forced herself out of bed and into the shower. She undressed and turned the shower on, not too hot. She stepped into the shower and leaned against the wall, letting the cool water cascade down her body, waking her up. She didn’t linger long, the captain had really gotten used to seeing her at work on time; a habit she knew she never should have gotten started. She smiled to herself.)

(Jinny wrapped a towel around her slender body and returned to her room to dress. She’d just removed the towel to dry off when the door opened and John, Jr. burst in.)

Jinny: (wrapping the towel back around her) Excuse me! I’m naked here!

John: (quick glance her way) Yeah, and?

Jinny: And?! We’re not kids anymore, John. Get out.

John: You ain’t got nothing I’ve never seen before.

Jinny: John!

John: (noticing the clothes Jinny has laid out to wear to work) Hey, that’s my shirt.

Jinny: (mocking him) Yeah, and?

John: (taking the shirt) It’s mine and I want it.

Jinny: (takes it back) Yeah, well, it was in my closet and I’m wearing it, so get over it.

John: (sighs, pouts) Well, don’t get all those (makes a face) girly smells on it. (turns to leave, turns back) And don’t get nothing else on it, either. (leaves, slamming the door)

(Jinny shakes her head as she finishes dressing. How could she forget the highlight of her stay with her dad? John, Jr. and his third wife were having problems, so he had also moved back home, temporarily. If only Casey would come home, they would be one big (happy excluded purposefully) family again.)

(Jinny finishes dressing, being sure to apply extra deodorant and her favorite perfume (which she hadn’t worn since Teddy...) and walked out of her room. She made sure to make an extra close pass by John, Jr. as she kissed her dad goodbye and left to pick up Magda.)

Well, here is a little bit more, sorry it isn't much, but I'm workin' on it....................

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(On the drive to Magda’s, Jinny spotted several, what she knew to be, exchanges between the drug pushers and the common public. This depressed Jinny even more. She worked so hard to become a police officer and even hard to become an Inspector and she had really thought she could make a difference. She really though that Jinny Exstead could put a stop to crime as it was known, at least in her little corner of the world. Jinny laughed to herself as she pulled up in front of Magda’s new house. Boy had she been mistaken. She couldn’t even get her family to take her seriously, let alone her employer. She knew it was because of her alcoholism. But she was slowly overcoming that, and it still didn’t seem to make a difference. Jinny knocked on the door and was greeted by one very excited little boy, Benjamin.)

Ben: Jinny!

Jinny: Hey, sweet boy. How’s it going? (Jinny picked him up; like she had a choice, he had a death grip on her)

Ben: Great. Except I gotta go to school. Yuck. I hate school.

Jinny: (makes a face) Me too. (Magda frowns at Jinny) But if you don’t go to school, how are you going to be smart enough to be a cop like your mom?

Ben: I don’t want to be a cop anymore. I want to be a player like daddy.

Jinny: (sets Ben down, laughing way too hard)

Magda

heavy sigh, hard stare toward Jinny) (to Ben) A musician, Benjamin. It’s called a musician.

Ben: Oh, yeah. Well, that’s what I want to be.

Magda: Let’s go. You don’t want Jinny and Mommy to be late for work.

(Jinny and Magda are driving to the station in silence after dropping Ben off at school. Jinny looks over to Magda.)

Magda: What?

Jinny: (smiling) Nothing.

Magda: What?

Jinny: You.

Magda: Me? What about me?

Jinny: The look on your face when Ben said he wanted to be like Gabe, was one of those priceless moments.

Magda: That’s not funny, Jin. What if he really does? That doesn’t pay nothing. Look at Gabe. Bouncing around from gig to gig. It’s not a dependable way to support a family.

Jinny: Mag, he’s seven years old. He’ll change his mind a hundred more times by the time he’s old enough for it to matter.

Magda: You didn’t, and he’s eight now.

Jinny: Yeah, eight, right. Did you have to let him have a birthday while I was gone?

Magda: Well, it was kind of unavoidable, but if you want, we’ll go out. Just the three of us. We can go to Kiddie Palace, (teasing) I know how much you love Kiddie Palace.

Jinny: (laughs, shakes head) I’ll pass thanks.

Well, I am progressing very slowly, so here's a little more........

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(They get out of the car and make their way into the station. They stop and pour themselves coffee and sit down at their desks. CD is on the phone, but she waves at them . A few minutes later, Nate walks in carrying two cups of coffee. He sets one down in front of CD and she looks up, smiling her thanks. Jinny gives Magda a look that says ‘I wonder what they’ve been up to.’ Magda rolls her eyes and shakes her head. When eight o’clock rolls around and the captain hasn’t made an appearance, CD speaks her concern.)

CD: Anybody seen the Captain this morning?

Magda: No. It’s not like her to be late.

Jinny: Tell me about it. And to think, I was going to sleep in this morning. Why does she have to ruin everything in my life?

Kate: (walking in and overhearing) Because it’s my job.

Jinny: (turning around) Do you have to be so damned good at it?

Kate: (smiles) I’ll be in my office this morning. I’d rather not be disturbed. I’m sure you can all find something to occupy your time. Jinny, I’m still waiting for your ninety day self-evaluation forms to be completed and returned. Now would be a good time to work on that.

Jinny: (nods, smiles) (sarcastically) Yes, Mom. I’ll do my homework, I promise.

Kate: (walking into her office) Good, we’ll go over it first thing after lunch. (closes door)

Jinny: What’s eatin’ her?

Raina: (just turns her head and opens a file drawer)

(Jinny opens her desk drawer and pulls out the paperwork in question. She picks up a pen and starts reading and filling in blanks. With her partner busy, Magda decides to talk to Raina. She walks over and leans her back against the other file cabinet, arms crossed. She watches Raina for a few minutes, then speaks.)

Magda: So, what’s up with the Cap, Raina?

Raina: What? Oh, (looking away, picks up another file) nothing. Besides, how would I know what’s bothering the captain? She doesn’t talk to me.

Magda: We all know you have ears.

Raina: (looks up, hurt)

Magda: That’s not always a bad thing.

Raina: (looks back at Jinny, shakes her head) I can’t tell you.

Magda: Why not? Is it about Jinny?

Raina: (still filing, not speaking)

Magda: (takes the file out of Raina’s hands, leans in close, low) If it’s about my partner, I have every right to know, Raina.

Raina: (sighs) Okay, I over heard the captain on the phone yesterday. I don’t know who she was talking to but they pretty much think Jinny shouldn’t be on the street.

Magda: Why? Jinny’s ninety days have been great. Why would they want her off the streets?

Raina: (shrugs) I don’t know it isn’t my place to ask.

Magda: Well, I will.

Raina: (too loud) NO! (stares, turns to Magda, more quietly) You can’t do that. I’m not supposed to know that and.....

Magda: There’s more than one way around Captain McCafferty.

Kate: Oh? (standing there staring at Magda) Care to share that thought with me?

Magda: Um, hey. Yeah, can we talk?

Kate: I think we should.
