AKA he was a cartoon character on a real sitcom. Do you agree? Was there any realism to the Gabe Kotter character?

gee a tv character that was unrealistic - how could that be?
if they patterned a show around your typical boring highschool teacher no one would watch it - Mr Kotter was as realistic as he needed to be for the show, the only problem with the show was a bunch of TV executives trying to ruin everything with their bright ideas |

Mr. Kotter was the sweathogs friend more than a teacher that's why. He was one of the guys and was in their personal lives

I think Howard Hesseman played a more realistic teacher on the show 'Head of the Class.' That show was nowhere as near entertaining as WBK. |

Mr. Kotter came off to me as a teacher, but since he was a former sweathog, he could relate to his students. Also he cared about his students.

Mr. Kotter was a teacher who was willing to do whatever it took to reach his students and help than learn even if vice pricipal Woodman and the other teachers didn't understand or approve hios methods. To me that makes him the very best kind of teacher. One who truly cares about his students. Not only as pupils but as people!
