A lot of the fireworks have been banned around here due to the drought and the heat. Everything is so dry, fires breaking out everywhere. The fools will still be shooting them off and I will be hosing down my yard and my roof. I guess they will allow the display by the arch since that one is on the river.

Back in 1991/92 LaCrosse WI held a week long super duper fireworks display. 20 years later fireworks dont do a thing for me--"Boom Bang boom"- a big fat boring from me

Regulus, can I ask where you live? I live in Port St.John. Merritt Island caught my eye in your post. I missed the launch but I certainly heard it!!! Actually I didn't even know it was going up.

I live in Port Orange, just south of Daytona Beach. I drive to Cape Canaveral to see a launch every chance I get!

The next launch is tentatively set for around 4:00 Am on August 23 - a NASA Probe to study the Van Allen Radiation Belt around the Earth.

One More Display July 2 at Cocoa Beach! arty:

It's these festivities that make Independence Day the second favorite time of the year, only the Holiday Season of Thanksgiving to New Years day ranks higher! :

Well, it case you didn't know PSJ is between Titusville and Cocoa. We actually have an exit off I-95!!!

Sad to say, but I am over all the fireworks thing. I've seen enough and I am just going to stay home July 4th and shoot off our own fireworks. I hate dealing with the crowds and the traffic anymore. Heck, even when we go to any of the Disney parks, we leave right before the fireworks because I've seen it all and to beat the crowd out!!!

Oh, and I'll keep a note about the next launch. Night launches are the best. I can see them all, day or night launch from my front yard!!!

My neighbor (who is kind of a dizz wad) always shoots off fire crackers practically under my bedroom window all night. It is so dry here that I hope that he uses some common sense(!) and restrains himself this year. We need no fires thank you very much!

Here's a little trick I use to not deal with the crowds (And places that charge a Fee to park near the Event).

I'll find a LEGAL Place to park about a mile away from the venue, then break out a Bicycle and ride it to the Venue (They NEVER charge Cyclists or Pedestrians). I chain the bike to a post, then enjoy the festivities with the best of them. arty:

After the Grand Finale, while everyone is grunting, snorting and growling while fighting the Gridlock, I hop on my Bike, ride back to where I parked, and cruise away, saying SO LONG, SUCKERS!!!

So will you be using snakes? (It came from a "South Park" episode).

I'll be in Lakewood seeing a parade and a great fireworks display (and seeing my parents in between).

Are you talking about the crawling kind, or the kind that you light ? I don't think they sell any kind of fireworks around here. The fine is too high if you're caught. I have been hearing loud booms late at night but they sound like someone is shooting their shotguns. Which is also illegal.

We already went to a neighborhood barbecue Sunday, and it was great. During the week nothing special. I do like to watch specials from Washington D.C. on TV and enjoy the music. Happy 4th of July everyone!

Wow, what a great idea!!! I have a bike which I ride quite often. I know you said a legal spot but just make sure you don't park at that Publix on AIA, the one across from Boston Lobster(I think that's what it's called). They're real strict, they even have a lit up sign that reads No Beach Parking.
