Comedy Central to Roast Roseanne Barr
Jun 25, 2012 by Joyce Eng And Comedy Central's next roast victim is... Roseanne Barr! The comedienne will be roasted in a special that will air on Sunday, Aug. 12 at 10/9c. The event will be taped on Saturday, Aug. 4. "Although Roseanne appears to be a demure, soft-spoken woman eternally committed to the status quo, we believe under the surface is an explosive, trail-blazing cultural revolution. We are honored to Roast her," Kent Alterman, Comedy Central's head of original programming and Production, said in a statement. "Celebrating Roseanne's unprecedented achievements in comedy and television will surely inspire us to make this Roast more reminiscent of the classic roasts, where the intimacy of friends jousting with each other came through." "All I can say is good luck finding anything about me to make fun of... I mean, I've never made a mistake or offended anyone in my life!" Barr added. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Comedy-C...e-1049183.aspx |

Hopefully John Goodman or Laurie Metcalf appear... and I think Sara Gilbert has lost her "Darlene"-edge, but she might have some lines too.
It would be great to have one of them come back and roast - as their character on "Roseanne." |

Roseanne Roast Will Include Sharon Stone, Carrie Fisher, Katey Sagal
07/30/2012 The upcoming Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne is shaping up to be quite the ladies' night, with Jane Lynch already announced as Roastmaster and a slew of talented women on the dais. Entertainment Weekly has learned that legendary actresses Sharon Stone and Carrie Fisher, as well as Katey "Peg Bundy" Sagal will be among those roasting Roseanne at the taping in Los Angeles this week. EW.com also reports that Seth Green, as well as roast staples Jeffrey Ross and Anthony Jeselnik and last year's breakout comedian of the Charlie Sheen Roast, Amy Schumer, will be there ready to mock Roseanne. Unfortunately, Tom Arnold is not expected to come. Also noticeably missing from the dais is three-time Roastmaster Seth MacFarlane. Instead, "Glee" star Jane Lynch will head up the night's debauchery as the third female Roastmaster in Comedy Central history. "I've long fantasized of ripping Roseanne Barr a new one. But because I don't have the cajones to say anything offensive to her face, I will be hosting the proceedings," said Lynch in a press release. The Roaseanne Roast tapes this Saturday, August 4, and will premiere on Comedy Central the following weekend. More roasters are expected to be officially announced in the coming days, so look out for updates. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0..._1719775.html? |

Katey Sagal will be hilarious. I always thought it would of been cool to see what would have happened if The Connors and The Bundy’s met. Good movie idea! I also think it would be cool if all the cast from Roseanne showed up too, Especially Dan and Jackie. Jane Lynch should be good too and that sucks Tom Arnold won't be there. That guy has always been hilarious. |

"Roseanne" Reunion: Cast Members Reunite At Barr's Comedy Central Roast
08/05/2012 Fifteen years ago "Roseanne", one of the most popular television series of the 90s, went off the air. On Saturday, cast members reunited for a roast of former leading lady, Roseanne Barr. Barr was joined by "Roseanne" vets Sarah Chalke ("Second Becky"), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Alicia Goranson (Becky) for a good ol' fashioned Comedy Central roast in Los Angeles. Chalke announced the reunion on her official website and Fishman tweeted, saying: "I had a great time at #RoseanneRoast. Had to sign off the Comedy Central handle before I say anything to bad. After party = no censor" Barr's ex-husband and former "Roseanne" writer (and sometimes-character, "Arnie Thomas"), Tom Arnold, even made a special surprise appearance. Arnold, who was not expected to attend, answered at least one fan's dream: "Dreams come true “@DevonESawa: I'd give anything to see Tom Arnold be a part of the Roseanne roast.”"E! News reported that Arnold had some good jabs for Barr. "I'm not here to tear Roseanne a new one, because I've seen the old one," he said. He showed her some love, too: "In 1985, Roseanne went on Johnny Carson, which is every comic's dream back then. She killed, he laughed his ass off, he gave her a thumbs up and he invited her to sit on his couch. She got validation from the king which can never be taken away from her." Other roasters on the docket included Jane Lynch, Sharon Stone, Carrie Fisher, Katey Sagal, Seth Green, Jeffrey Ross and Anthony Jeselnik. The "Comedy Central Roast Of Roseanne” premieres on Sunday, August 12 at 10:00 P.M. ET/PT. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0..._1743857.html? |

Jeffrey Ross Mocks Joe Paterno, Dark Knight Rises Shooting at Roseanne Barr Roast
Aug 6, 2012 by Robyn Ross Jeffrey Ross took his jokes a tad too far while hosting Comedy Central's roast of Roseanne Barr. Prior to the taping, Ross walked the red carpet dressed as the late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. He was joined by two young boys wearing nothing but a football helmet and a towel around their waist. Paterno died a few months after he was fired as part of a scandal involving his former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, who was charged with more than 50 sex crimes against young boys dating back to 1994. According to Entertainment Weekly, Ross, who remained dressed as Paterno sans the boys by his side, opened up the ceremony by looking at Seth Green and saying, "Congratulations. This is actually a really big night for you. You haven't gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora." The joke was aimed at Green, a red-head like the accused shooter. After a negative reaction by the audience, Ross continued by saying, "I'm kidding! You're not like James Holmes. At least he's doing something in a movie theater that people remember." Backstage, Barr commented on Ross' remarks saying, "That crossed the line ... But comedy is about moving the line... And where is the line in a country that has freedom of speech? Maybe there isn't one." The edited version of the roast will air Sunday, Aug. 12, at 10/9c on Comedy Central. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Jeffrey-...t-1051644.aspx |
