So Cosby has been airing on GMC (again), and while I have remembered to check most days, I have forgotten to check a few days, but I don't think they've aired any of the 5 episodes they skipped. When GMC was airing Promised Land, they also skipped several episodes, including "Take Back the Night". While I don't like these skipping episodes, particularly if my theories about *why* they haven't aired are correct, I do give credit to GMC for airing both of these series, which hadn't aired anywhere previously in years, and for the most part, they have been airing the episodes uncut.
Now, GMC stands for Gospel Music Channel, which means its a Christian station and promotes so-called "family values". Unfortunately, that probably means they aren't airing episodes dealing with sex, homosexuality, and what not. I don't agree with that, in fact, I just don't like censorship in just about any form. To get to specifics Cosby -"The Best Little Antique Shop in Astoria" ~ Hilton goes to work for an antique shop, but it turns out they operate a brothel in the back part of the store. -"Older n Out" ~ episode about an older, gay baseball team. -"Now is the Time, the Walrus Said" ~ episode in which 13 year old Jurnee Smollett learns about sex. -"Turkey Day" ~ not sure, but this is a Thanksgiving episode, and networks will typically skip over holiday-themed episodes, though this should have aired during Thanksgiving if GMC has ever aired it around that time. -"A Very Nice Dance" ~ not a clue Promised Land -"Take Back the Night" ~ episode in which Dinah escapes an attempted rape, but the rapist claims another victim on campus. I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, this episode did air on PAX (Ion's predecessor), which was another "family friendly" station. However, this is a very dark, disturbing episode. The final moments have the rapist chasing young (and underage) Dinah through a haunted house, and the rapist is actually a doctor, husband and father. Definintely not something for young children to watch. -"The Magic Gate" ~ GMC actually did air this, but cut out a scene in which young Nathaniel walks in on his favorite author, Valerie Harper ,shooting herself up with drugs, and is traumatized by it. Again, I have mixed feelings about that because PAX aired that scene, but it is sort of disturbing. |

They aired both of these episodes not sure about the A Very Nice Dance episode it was part animated and it involved one of Hilton & Ruth's first date and aired on Valentine's Day this year so maybe they held that back for the Holiday as well. |

that's interesting, thanks for that information. I guess my next question is, do you happen to have these episodes? i would be interested in trading for them.
I guess I should also note that GMC hasn't aired the Promised Land episodes that are crossovers with other shows such as Touched by an Angel and Diagnosis: Murder, although that's understandable because they don't air those shows anyways. |

I wonder if GMC still has the rights to Promised Land, or has the deal expired. The show is still not on DVD yet, nuts.
