Let's put it this way, Beau was no John Travolta. The ratings began to quickly drop after Travolta left. But I don't think that it was entirely Beau's fault.

I think the series had already run its course by the time Beau joined the cast. Travolta was smart enough to get out while the ratings were high.

You are right. He was no Travolta! It's not Steven Shortrideges fault tho. I think he tried but we all adored Travolta & it wasn't the same without him. If any other Sweathogs had left, it would've been worse...

I voted mixed feelings, because i keep going back and forth on this subject. Although he was handsome, Beau just didn't seem to fit in with the others at first, but there are some episodes where he's great. I think I accept him the more i watch the shows.

If any of the others left, I agree it would be worse. If Juan left, I don't think I could watch it anymore.

Epstien was a great character as was Kotter, Horshack and Washington. I think the collective chemistry is what made the show work. I even liked the Mr. Wooden.

Actually, Tiger32, his name was Woodman.
Wooden was close though,

A bit of trivia: In the first episode, Kotter calls him Mr. Woodface.
by accident.

I thought Beau (Stephen Shortbridge) was handsome, but he couldnt even hold a candle to Vinnie (John Tavolta); and he was not Sweathog material...So my feelings on Beau are mixed...
