God, the reading entertainment for today's teens is such rubbish!
My cellphone lost service, so to pass the time, I picked up a teen magazine called M. God, that teen magazine is such rubbish! I feel bad for the reading entertainment teens have today. M kept abbreviating words like "Relaysh," for relationship, and "deets," for details. I quickly found it annoying. The fact that 90 percent of the magazine was pure Celebrity Gossip, celebrity "secrets" and "advice," didn't make it much better. Also, the magazine talked about boyband One Direction way too many times in the magazine. it was overkill! I had to shake my head when I thought of the quality entertainment I got from teen magazines when I was a teen myself.
Gone are the days of Young and Modern Magazine, or YM for short, which was one of the top teen magazine staples when I myself was a teen. YM was one of the best teen magazines out there, and had so much quality substance that it wasn't even funny. I remember a healthy eating article they did that stuck out in my mind, about how vegetables could give you a healthy glow, and one of my favorite articles was, "Why Being Single Rocks,"(this was writtne at a time where many teen girls thought they were losers if they didn't have boyfriends). This article most likely made a lot of girls hold their heads up high). It's a sad shame how trash magazines like M are now the staples of teen magazines, rather than how substantial YM was in the 90's/early 2000s. I cringe for the teens today.
