Madderest 10 Minute Video of Middle-Schoolers Bullying Elderly Bus Monitor Goes Viral

Karen Klein Video: Bullied Bus Monitor Speaks Out On "TODAY" Show (VIDEO)
The Huffington Post | By Laura Hibbard
6/21/12

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l93wAqnPQwk

After the upsetting video of Greece School District bus monitor Karen Klein being viciously bullied by the children she was watching over went viral Wednesday, the Internet struck back with an outpouring of concern, kind words and a fundraising campaign that has raised more than $184,000 so far for Klein to use for a dream vacation.

Now, the 68-year-old is speaking out, telling the "Today" show's Matt Lauer she's overwhelmed by the amount of support she's received.

"I am amazed, I am so amazed," Klein told Lauer. "I've gotten the nicest letters, emails, Facebook messages, and it's like wow, there's a whole world out there that I didn't know."

Klein also appeared on "Fox and Friends", where she talked about how she was able to maintain her composure while the students were insulting her.

"I didn’t want to do anything to hurt anybody," Klein said in the interview. "... I have escaped a lot in my life, and I’m trying to let things go."

In the video, the lowest point of the verbal abuse came when one of the boys told Klein she didn't have any family because "they all killed themselves because they didn’t want to be near you." Klein's son took his own life 10 years ago.

With donations still pouring in to the fundraising campaign, which will not end until July 20, things may be looking up for Klein, but she still has a message for the parents of the children:

"I'm sorry that your sons acted the way they did," she told Lauer when asked what she would say to the boys' parents. "I'm sure they don't act that way at home, but you never know what they're going to do when they're out of the house."

This video made me cry. This is how kids treated me on the bus in the eighth grade. That poor woman. I hope these little ****s got punished to the fullest extent.

I feel sorry for the parents who have to deal with the embarrassment of their kids behavior towards this poor woman who didn't deserve to be treated in such a cruel way. I know that there are some of us who when we were that age went through a phase to where we treated those around us mean whether or not they deserved it no not. However, there comes that moment sooner or later when we are punished for what we done and for most of us we learn that what we did was wrong and not to do it again though there are also those who don't and continue to be cruel and vicious to everyone. I hope these little ****heads got what was coming to them and received the appropriate punishment for being so cruel to that poor woman and hopefully learned their lesson and if they didn't, then I hope they are treated as cruely and viciously as they treated this poor woman.

I watched this video earlier and it was sad. It's terrible how those kids teased, taunted and even threatened that woman. The kids who bullied her should be ashamed of themselves. The teasing seemed endless. The fact that she had a member of her family commit suicide is awful enough, but to have one of the kids cruely insinuate that her family killed themselves to get away from her is inexcusable. I don't know if those kids don't have a conscience or what. As someone who was teased a lot throughout my years of school, I know just how awful it feels.

It's disgusting. It brought back a lot of memories of being bullied. In my day though kids wouldn't have done this to adults. A paddle would have been waiting for each one of them. They should be barred from riding a bus. Let the parents figure out how they get to and from school.

I heard that one of the bullies regretted doing it,and saying he didn't think it would have gone as far as it dd -going viral and all.As for the rest of the bullies, they probably showed no remorse at all. They'll probably all (even the bully who regretted what he and the other bullies did to that woman, which was despicable)get suspended and expelled.

Heart Karen Klein

This is so sad. When she said, "I'm crying", I just felt so bad for her. Those kids have no souls, that I can see anyway. They need serious punishment. Maybe a summer of mowing her grass, washing her floors, running her errands, then washing the entire fleet of school buses, getting them ready for fall. This video will follow them around for life.

I heard the collection for Karen is past 300 grand. That's a house and a vacation. Good for her.

Sounds good to me along with being grounded for the summer and LOTS of extra chores. And of course an apology. The little monsters.

That video totally disgusted me. In a interview Karen said she would like to slap them but not press charges. She is getting so much support. Her live has changed for the better and those boys are in a living hell, where they should be. They need to be expelled and spend the weekend in jail, just to scare them.

Do you know for sure that they act that way at home or not?
I know a girl that used to bully her own mother in public and at home. Her mother was non confrontational and wouldn't do much of anything. Her father was a Marine and was over in Iraq. When he was released he came back and straightened his daughter out quickly.
But for these kids, I bet they're bullying in school too. I wonder if anything was done about these kids?

One of the most sickining displays i have ever seen in my life. Now granted this happens to kids on the bus everyday and at school. But to do that to a old woman. If i was there parents i would disown them. After beating them so bad that i would probably be thrown in prison.I can not believe that nobody defended that old woman. What did the bus driver say.Because he or she had to of known what was going on.

Paddling is not the solution to this problem, as the kids would be behaving out of fear, not because it's the right thing to do. In other words, "I have to be nice to you so I don't get paddled." Bullying would only cease when the kids knew an adult was nearby and a paddling was eminent. The problem is that these kids weren't raised right to begin with; good behavior starts at home. When I was growing up, my parents modeled and expressed respect, kindness, and thoughtfulness and they taught me to treat others that way. I was never paddled or spanked, but I did grow up to be a kind, thoughtful, and respectful adult.

You're exactly right, those kids shouldn't not be doing it.Because they are afraid of what's going to happen. They should not do it.Because it is wrong.Wrongs not even a strong enough word. For what those kids did. What they did is a complete disgrace to all human kind. And makes me sick.I can only imagine what God thinks.

suspending them does nothing, they should serve actual jail time for this, minors or not, if they are capable of bullying, they're capable of doing jail time
