Default Received the ABC version of the Family Matters/Step by Step ep today

And forgot that the part when Steve crashes into the Lambert's table was still part of the Family Matters ending.

In syndication on Family Matters the episode ends with Steve flying into space.

On Step by Step the part when he lands on the table is in the teaser. I guess after seeing it in reruns for the past 20 years I forgot. Great to see again.

I remember watching TGIF that night. FM and SBS aired during the 8-9 PM block, so it makes sense that FM's episode would end with Urkel blasting off and SBS's would open a few minutes later with his less than smooth landing.

I thought after he flew through the roof that was the end of Family Matters. And when he landed on the Lambert's picnic table that was the beginning of Step by Step. But I was shocked to see that the family matters closing credits appeared once he landed on the picnic table

Wasn't it technically just one show leading into the other? Steve going through the roof was the end of the Family Matters episode. I think they held the credits when he crashed because they didn't want it to distract from the opening seconds/scene of Step By Step.

Yeah it was one show leading into the other because they aired back to back

I guess I was confused because when watching the Step by Step episode in syndication the part when he crashes into the picnic table is in the teaser. On ABC there was no teaser for Step by Step, the show just started and you saw Steve in the kitchen. It was so many years since I seen it on ABC I forgot the picnic table scene was the actual ending of the Family Matters episode

I don't think it was, lol. I just think they had the shows bleed into each other, no break in between, and held the ending Family Matters credits so they wouldn't roll over the scene. I think the versions that are in sydication are they way they are supposed to be.

Listen, I have the ABC eps of both shows that I received last week and that's why I'm saying that after watching the Network version, I forgot that the Family Matters closing credits appeared when he was on the Lambert's picnic table. Then after that the Step by Step starts and when the episode begins you see Steve in the kitchen.

I was saying how watching the show in syndication made me forget that Steve landing on the picnic Table wasn't a Step by Step teaser but instead a Family Matters ending.

I understand your tape, but what I'm saying is that when Steve crashes, that IS the opening of Step By Step. They played the closing Family Matters credits over the opening of Step By Step. They didn't want to interrupt Steve's scene, so they waited for the closing credits...AT THE TIME. Then for syndication, they put the end credits where they belong. Steve going through the roof is the end of the Family Matters episode.

I guess we can say it was the combination of the ending of Family Matters and opening of Step by Step on ABC

And in syndicaton it was just the opening of Step by Step
