Hello to all my Freddie Family and Friends on this board: As you all know, tomorrow is the 25th Anniversary of Freddie's passing from us. I wanted to start a special thread for us to post our special tributes to the man who brought us all together. Whether you are a fan of the show or Freddie or both, I ask everyone to be generous and respectful with your tributes. I would love to see some of our old friend post here too. Many people have come and gone on this board over the past year, let's come together once again to post our tributes. I am posting an image of a candle here. Feel free to copy and paste it to a file and use it with your post too, or come up with your own image to post. I will post my tribute tomorrow when I have more time to think about what I want to say. Feel free to post before me! With love, Marie(luckymama) |

Luckymama, thanx mucho for this opportunity! Just yesterday a song came into my mind after I hadn't thought about it in years. It was written in 1975 by Alan Parsons and is on his album of songs based on Edgar Allan Poe's works, "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". It bears little resemblance to the original poem, "To One in Paradise" (also the name of the song), except for the voiceover at the end which is the last stanza of it. I just know Freddie gave this back to me, since it sounds very much like words he might say from where he is now, and the line "Come from Paradise" is exactly what I would ask him if I could. Not to mention the part of the poem at the end--it says what I feel perfectly. Muchas gracias por todo, vida mia! Te amo, bebe--forgive me for forgetting you for almost 25 years!
If I could see the sky above And my mind could be set free As wild white horses reached the shore I'd stand alone and oversee And if the bush before me burns Should I turn my eyes away And still the voices I can hear As clear to me as light of day I believed in my dreams Nothing could change my mind Now I know what they mean How could I be so blind Cold sands of time (Winds that blow as cold as ice Sounds that come in the night) Shall hide what is left of me (Come from Paradise) I've been through times when no one cared (Words that were mine) I've seen clouds in empty skies When one kind word meant more to me (Shall last as a memory) Than all the love in Paradise I believed in my dreams Nothing could change my mind Till I found what they mean Nothing can save me now And all my days are trances And all my nightly dreams Are where thy dark eye glances And where thy footstep gleams In what ethereal dances By what eternal streams. |

Dear Freddie,
You've never met me, but still you made my life brighter with your laughter and helped me cope through my akward adolescent years. You were an awsome comedian, performer and actor and there will never be anyone quite like you. I never knew your life was so tormented during the last--maybe those closest to you didn't realize just how bad things had become for you, either, or I'm sure they would have done more. I always wonder, but I'll never know if you really meant to leave this world 25 years ago. I'll be honest, a lot of your fans were angered by what you did, including me, but a lot of us have come to realize that there were forces beyond a human's control that made you act desperately. You did not die in vain--you gave me inspiration, made me laugh when I was feeling down, and made me realize that hard drugs are nothing to mess with and leave them alone. You still have alot of fans, Freddie! I love you! |

Words cannot express what is in my heart.
In life, you brought light to so many lives. Your gift was the gift of laughter. You could make us forget, even if just for a few moments, the troubles of our every day life and put a smile on our faces. We love you Freddie. We miss you Freddie. We will never ever forget you. |

In Paradisum There was rejoicing in heaven the day you were born A dark haired youth, the only son of your mother. And as you grew in stature and grace You enamored we mortals with your wit and fair face. But your lot in life was harder than most knew As you tried to make others laugh, you quietly cried. Till life’s burdens became more than your spirit could handle You decided it was time to say “I can take no more”. But little did you realize how many you touched With your beauty, wit and sweet gentle nature. Now we remember that person you were And continue to miss you, lo these many years. An angel among men, who walked in our midst For just a short while and then was taken away. In paradisum deducant te angeli, in tuo adventu suscipiuant te martyres. Et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem. May the angels escort thee to paradise, may the martyrs receive thee at thy coming and bring thee into the holy city Jerusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et com Lazaro quondam paupere aeternam habeas requiem. May the choir of angels receive thee, and with Lazarus, who once was poor, mayst thou have eternal rest. Te amo, ángel dulce mio, Freddie! Descanse en paz. Maria |

I wanted to include Jack Albertson's words here too! IN TRIBUTE by Jack Albertson Eulogy to the memory of Freddie Prinze delivered at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, California, January 31, 1977 (reprinted from the book, The Freddie Prinze Story by Maria Pruetzel, copyright 1978) “Three years ago, I agreed to make a television pilot, assuming it would be just another three weeks of trouping. I was unaware at that time that I had begun a journey that would bring me here today, not as an actor, but as a member of a family- because that’s what we are- Freddie’s family. Each of us a part of him, and he a golden part of us. “Yes, we all began a working relationship with a 19-year-old-boy that soon developed into a friendship. And even before his accelerated maturity into manhood, that friendship ripened into respect, affection and mutual concern that went beyond our careers and into our lives. “In less than three years, millions of people who were exposed to his vibrancy, his awesome talent, his luminous smile and captive graciousness, fell in love with Freddie Prinze. He lived for laughter, our young man did. He created it for others, effortlessly and enthusiastically. He accepted it as nourishment to his soul and he gave it to his peers as a gift of appreciation. And I can pay him no more sincere tribute, than to admit that he had grown from a new kid in a rehersal hall into a professional colleague on stage, faster, more gracefully than any actor that I have encountered in nearly half a century of theater. “It was provident that he was with us in an electronic age, where his performances attracted and amused more people than all the stars of Broadway ever entertained in the history of the theater. Those tapes, those films in which his precious gifts are captured, will endure. And in the weeks, the months, the years to come, millions more will discover Freddie as he joins those other greats of our profession, in what Shakespeare called, ‘the undiscovered country.’ He’ll be welcomed there as a peer, a man who brings those two most precious commodities, love and laughter. “We who shared his personal and prvate laughter also shared his love. More, we shared his concern about those private demons that brought his emotions from deep dispare one moment, to explosive good humor the next. Each of us, in turn, knew something of his inner turmoils and each of us, in turn, attempted in our own way to reassure him. None of us truly realized the extent of his anxieties, prehaps because of his mercurial ability to abandon despondency and soar to self-mocking hilarity, that sent us all into a gleeful response. And we must realize that now, while we mourn our loss, we must also realize that Freddie is gone- where he wanted to go. He went with our love and he took with him secret parts of us that can never be replaced. “We are bound together, this family, not in a temporary chill of death, but in the everlasting warmth of his humanity and his humor. Let us not mourn his death; rather, let us celebrate his life. In the years to come, in the days and in the years, this moment will have passed and we’ll see Freddie again, we will hear him, we will think of our brother and we will smile again and we will laugh again, and we will be warm again.” |

Today is a very sad day indeed..but only for us who are left behind to wonder why. Freddie Prinze is looking down with his
large round eyes, his beautiful dimpled smile and with a heart as true and gentle as it was 25 yrs. ago. Freddie Prinze was a man with great talent. He brought happiness to many people as he still does to this day. He was truly a gentle soul, a man born with dignity and grace but most of all, and more importantly, a man filled with kindness for everyone he came into contact with. He is gone but will never be forgotten. He has brought me such happiness and inspiration. Once he enters your heart, he is unshakable. We love you Freddie and always will. I want to thank everyone who posts on this board everyday and for the fan fiction site that helps to keep his beautiful memory alive. Thank you all....Our Prince deserves the tributes. |

Reading all the beautiful tributes to Freddie, The Eulogy that Lucky posted. I feel so touched.......
Today I thought of this.............There are fans who follow Marilyn Monroe.... There are fans who follow Elvis........ There are fans that still follow John Belushi, Alijah, Jim Morrison, John Lennon........ But...... We follow our "Prinze" - He is never forgotten to the loyal "fans" who will forever love him.

So tru Jenny...... but also I think he knows..... I hear so many stories about how he comes in dreams..... and he has been in mine, tho I am not sure I would call them "dreams". I believe he knows of us and his spirit is with us.
Freddie... You live in our hearts always....

It was truely a difficult day for all of us yesterday as we remember, miss and Love Freddie.
I know this is late I could not bring myself to post yesterday. I never knew you but some how through the laughter you brought to my life You made me feel as if I did know you. You gave your all to entertain,I only hope that now you have the peace you tried so hard to find and that you have been given back some of the joy you gave us through your life and laughter. May we also remember his dear Mother and son at this time too. |
