Exclamation "Alice" Season One DVD June 12th

"Alice" is the story of Alice Hyatt (Linda Lavin), a recently widowed single mom who finds herself working as a waitress at an Arizona diner while caring for her pre-teen son, Tommy (Philip McKeon). The inimitable Vic Tayback plays Mel, the gruff owner of the diner, while Beth Howland and Polly Holliday play her co-workers, neurotic Vera and no-nonsense Flo.

This 3-Disc, 24- Episode Collection collects the entire first season of the Bicentennial-era break-out hit, including the rarely seen pilot episode featuring Alfred Lutter from Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, the film inspiration for "Alice".

Guest stars include "Batman's" Adam West, Victor Buono, and "Dark Shadow's" Lara Parker.

I hate to tell you guys this, but this Alice DVD is from Warner Archive. This will not be in any retail store. It is a DVD-R set which you need to order from Warner Archive directly or an internet service such as Oldies.com which sells Warner Archive titles to get the show.

When they do it this way, you can't shop around to get the best deal. It was that way with The Courtship of Eddie's Father too. Any chance they'll offer it through Amazon? At least they will sometimes give you free shipping.

It's 29 dollars at WB. It is the shipping and taxes that make the price go up thats why I love Amazon. I am sure they will have it on Amazon soon enough but i couldnt wait...lol

Go with the $29.00. I checked on Oldies.com and they will have it on July 12th for $34.98 plus shipping. Amazon will probably have a lower price eventually, but it sounds like some of you guys are just itching to get this and $29.00 sounds like a reasonable price. I've gotten one film from Warner Archive about two years ago and the service was very fast. I had the disc in my hands in less than 1 week after ordering. The disc I got played perfectly, too. According to Classic Images, there have been some defective discs shipped from Warner Archive, but the consensus is that because these are DVD-Rs, some people with really old machines or computers may not have the capability to play them, thus the discs may not really be defective.

WB doesnt have the best service...I had two DVDs lost in transit but they finally got to me. The delivery for me is rather slow but I havent had any problems with the DVDs playing on my dvd player. Amazon is still much better but they wont have Alice until probably next month and I just cant wait for this DVD...lol

That's what the Oldies.com website says. Oldies.com gets all the Warner Archive releases, but not when they first come out. Movies Unlimited and Classic Flix also carries Warner Archive on their respective websites, but I'm not sure if they carry all the releases.

So now sitcoms from Warner can be purchased in the store?

Movies Unlimited and Classic Flix are websites to order from, not brick-and- mortar stores.
