One of the many things I always appreciated about UM was how it could create a creepy atmosphere even when bad things happened in broad daylight.
When you're younger (as many of us were when we first watched the show), you assume bad things only happen late at night -- of course, UM has many cases that demonstrate just that: Pamela Ray, Russell Evans, Rhonda Hinson, Kathy Bonderson, Matthew Chase, and countless others met their fates long after the sun went down. However, UM was able to re-create that same eeriness during reenactments whose real-life events happened during the daytime. A few good examples: -Ayleen Conway -The I-70 Killer -Matt Flores (I think?) -Tammy Leppert, presumably What other cases were good examples of UM's ability to create a scary atmosphere even during daytime hours? |

Just off the top of my head Jim Burnside when he attacked Annette and her coworker. That happened in broad daylight and was pretty scary.
There was also one of the older cases where these two guys who were either in their late teens and early twenties and went on a killing spre of about four people, I think for some reason it was down south somewhere maybe Texas. I can't remember their names at all, and I don't remember seeing the case discussed on here. I apologize for the sketchy details but its been a really long time. Anyway one of their victims was a woman who came home and they were waiting in the house for her, she went through the house and at one point you could see movement in one of the bedrooms, and as soon as she started to enter one jumped out from a corner and smashed her head with something. It was shocking. This ring a bell with anyone cause I truly can't remember any names. I'm sure there are more cases like this too, will definitely think on this one. |

The abduction and assault of "Debbie". One of the most terrifying cases ever shown on UM and it all took place in broad daylight.

X-Calibur it was indeed terrifying! They murdered a few people. One was a female (she was kiled with an Axe) while her Baby was in the house. They didn't hurt the baby thankfully. THey also tortured an elderly man and his older son for hours before killing them. They knocked on a random door and shot an African American gentlemen to death also. If ever someone deserved the death penalty it's these 2 lowlifes right here.
According to another thread I looked up they are in their late 30's and are eligible for parole. (!) but have been denied. One of them got more years tacked on for smuggling a Gun in. I just feel like these scumbags really don't deserve to live and got off easy because they were teens at the time. (Puh-leeze!) |

"Carol" was shot in the morning, on her way to work.
Nyleen Kay Marshall was abducted during the daytime at a family picnic. Michael Rosenblum, whatever happened to him that hour after he left Lisa, happened during the day. Wendy Camp, her daughter and sister-in-law were killed by Chad Noe and his family covered it up in the afternoon. Tara Calico was riding her bike when she vanished during the daytime. The police chief has told the public that two boys Tara went to high school with were following her, knocked into her, and when she hit the ground, things went from bad to worse. The boys families helped cover up the crime including getting rid of the bike and burying the body. |

Roger and DJ Dean Sarah Powell (although her credibility is in question) Roxann & Christopher Jeeves Phillip Frazier Some of the incidents the Wackers reported happened during the daytime. |

The Dennis DePue case was pretty chilling. I believe the opening sequence of the UM episode inspired Jeepers Creepers - especially the start of the film. In fact, though I haven't seen the episode in a while, it mirrors the opening to the movie quiet well - even down to the abandoned church/schoolhouse where they see the killer disposing of the body.
Chilling. |

The senseless acts of violence are always the most disturbing and baffling. You wonder what drives these people sometimes to go out and just say what the hell, I'll just go out and waste some people I don't even know just for the hell of it. |

The "crazy glue" robbery in a Santa Barbara, CA bank in 1987. The one where Carlos Berdeja smashed Jeanne Molina to death with an piece of asphalt in front of 2 witnesses was very scary too.

I think it's this case: http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Carlos_Berdeja The victim was having dreams that someone was going to kill her. She thought it was her husband so she moved, planning to take her young daughters with her. At her new job, she met her co-worker, Berdeja, who actually ended up murdering her in a manner very similar to her premonitions. According to the UM wikia, he has not been caught. |

I remember seeing that one a long time ago. How horrifying!! They need to catch him before he can do that to anyone else. Also, he has children with him making him all the more a threat.
