As we all know, Lisa Whelchel has insisted she would never have appeared on an episode where she would be called to compromise her beliefs (i.e., where she or one of the girls would depict losing their virginity). So have there been any episodes where she DID do something questionable?? I can think of a few:
1. First episode--she holds a lit cigarette 2. Episode in first season where she and her friends play with a Ouija board 3. First season--how about them shorts!! 4. First season episode where she has friends who hold private dope-smoking parties (but she DOESN'T inhale) 5. She confesses to Mrs. Garrett she is a "tease" 6. Blair and that one guy in the van on Make-out Mountain 7. Blair, Natalie and Jo go off drinking French wine and beer 8. When Natalie looks for a controversial story to write, Blair suggests, "VD?" Then comes back--"Valentine's Day!!" 9. Blair, Jo, and Mrs. Garrett go to a male strip club--and she sees Cliff 10. All the times the girls went out and ordered alcoholic beverages (i.e., Blair's white wine spritzer) 11. Blair commenting on a Cupid doll being "anatomically correct" 12. At the taco restaurant, Natalie asks Blair a pre-hire question, "How long has it been since your last sexual experience?" Blair is suprised that the question is on the application--but Natalie is just playing a joke. 13. Same episode--the elderly lady customer calls Blair a "chippie" Anyone got any more? |

Thanx StrudelBone, that was a good point. She not only said she didn't believe in God, but said so in not very complimentary ways.
Plus she was reading "The Exorcist". (I think Lisa says in her latest book that her parents' divorce probably had some bearing on her faith--or lack of--in God at the time.) BTW, about smoking, didn't the woman in red seem to have a BIG habit??

Guys, if you read pgs. 35-37, in "The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me" Lisa explains those slip ups. She actually did take a stand on the episode where she and that guy are making out, orignally it was meant to be a lot more than making out.

Hey uh let's not take this too far now. Lisa was doing a job. She was acting. "Best Sister" and other episodes that were controverisal she was just doing a job. I didn't see anything wrong. Lisa obviously knows how far to go with something and I'm sure that God will let her know which direction to take.

Yeah, that episode always makes me think. I actually think it could be argued both ways. Blair does denounce God, but in the end she also accepts the fact He is always there. I think Lisa could argue she was making a point in that episode... I dunno? ks |

Okay, of course I'm being facetious with the times that Lisa
"slipped up." It wasn't necessarily about things her character would do that she wouldn't do herself, but things that would actually interpreted as morally questionable, like ordering a drink or make out in a van, etc. Of course I believe that in the first season there were a lot of things she could "get away with", being sort of new to television, but further into the 80's, she realized she had a big following among Christians, and therefore she may have felt inclined to act more responsibly. Anyone got any more slip-ups??!!
