Default Frasier Meets Martin

Hey, I just caught the episode of Cheers where Martin (John Mahoney) appears. In episode #5 of season 11 of Cheers "Do Not Forsake Me O' My Postman", John is a jingle writer. It's pretty cool to see them together on the set of Cheers.

Wow, never knew John was on Cheers! He looks different there than from on Frasier, snappy dresser.

I never knew he was on either. A jingle writer, ok, so he isn't playing Martin. Hmm. I'll have to look for that episode. Somebody around here has an avatar with Martin and Niles and Eddie sitting in Cheers (the bar) and I wondered where that came from too-- because that was never an episode of either Cheers or Frasier, right?
And Frasier resembles Freud in that episode.

Yeah, I thought it was either that or from some special or photo I never saw. By the way, Hi Pat!

John Mahoney was great in that Cheers episode. He absolutely nailed the role of a washed-up jingle writer who was bitter at everyone. Easily one of my favorite eps from Cheers, partly because of the significance and partly because it was a such a great little role for him. Peri Gilpin also had a small part in a final season episode as a reporter, but it was nothing special (the role, definitely not her acting).

Kelsey started sporting that beard in the 10th season. But another one of my favorite episodes is season 8 episode 9 "Two Girls For Every Boyd" where the whole bar holds a beard growing contest and he REALLY looks like Freud, even making a joke about it. Also, Lisa Kudrow has an early role in that episode.

Make that even more of us who never knew he was on Cheers! Too bad they didn't have him play Martin, but they probably didn't know that there would be a Frasier spin-off when that episode aired! Leigh Ann, it's funny to see him in that plaid jacket. Guess he graduated from the plaid jackets to the plaid shirts!

OMG, I have seen that picture and I got so excited. I looked everywhere for that episode! Too bad it doesn't exist! Frasier did a Cheers crossover of sorts, but it didn't take place at the bar. That would have been so cool!

That's too bad! I wish I could find that picture again b/c it sure was cute!

BTW, in case anyone's interested, I have written a couple of Cheers/Frasier crossovers. One is finished and one is in progress. Having a little trouble with the second one but in the first one I have Martin at Cheers with Norm and Cliff. I can totally see that happening!

My first Cheers crossover is a sequel to this story called "Darkest Hour":

Here's the sequel which takes place in both Seattle and Boston and has the characters crossing over;
"Across the Miles"
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7510665/1/Across_the_Miles

And the one I'm working on now is a story that starts with Frasier and Lilith breaking up and goes right into when "Frasier" first started. It's in progress b/c I'm kind of stuck on where to go with it.
"New Beginnings"

Hey! In that photo in question, isn't that the back of Frasier talking to Sam at the bar while he's sitting at the table up front???

No, actually, that's not the photo I was referring to, although that one is kind of funny. The one I saw is an avatar of someone's who posts here. Hang on, let me look around, I'm sure I can find it...

I think I know exactly which picture you're referring to. If I'm not mistaken, it's just Frasier, Martin Niles and Eddie at the bar. I actually hope you find it quickly b/c it's going to drive me crazy! I hate when I randomly find something and then can't remember how I found it in the first place!
