Default Something Not Right At TVLand Awards Interview

When they had the interview backstage with Charlotte, Lisa, and Nancy, they said Lisa is going to go get Mindy and Kim. When Lisa returns, if you listen CLOSELY, you can hear Lisa tell Nancy, "I tried". Kim and Mindy were still not there yet. When they finally cut to Mindy, the interviewer asks how they were all doing and Mindy says, "publicy fantastic." Mindy seemed to be a bit bothered with those questions.

He is talking about this interview here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K3n1...6FFEC1B9DA458C

Charlotte, Lisa and Nancy are all on the red carpet being interviewed. Early on in the video as Charlotte is speaking about being honored at the awards show, Lisa and Nancy have an almost inaudible conversation in the background about someone who Nancy terms as "just standing around doing nothing". Lisa then asks "should we go get her?" to which Nancy responds "She won't listen to me".

At some point someone had obviously requested that Kim Fields and Mindy Cohn be present for this interview as well. So as Charlotte continues to be interviewed, Cloris Leachman goes off to find Kim and Lisa apparently goes off to find Mindy. Lisa returns shortly after and mentions "I tried" (which some have interpreted as "I tried to retrieve Mindy but she wouldn't come").

There then seems to be some interesting comments from both Nancy and Mindy's interviews respectively which could indicate a certain degree of acrimony but then again could just as easily be innocent:

Shortly after Lisa allegedly informs her that Mindy refused to join the group, Nancy mentions while gesturing towards Lisa and Charlotte that "This section of the family talks and stays in touch quite a bit" when asked if the TVLAND Awards reunion was more like a family reunion for the cast

When Mindy is interviewed (separate from the rest of the group) she is asked what the reunion means to her and she responds "It means I get to honor Charlotte". She is then asked more specifically what it means to her to be reunited with her former cast members and that is when she responds with the "publicly fantastic" comment.

I actually read something about this in Lisa's book. And i believe it has to do with Lisa and Nancy gossiping. But they have since made up.And all really did end up enjoying. The reunion very much

Was that in her latest book?

I know in her first book she mentioned during the FOL reunion movie all the girls did was gossip and she (Lisa) felt horribly bad about it afterwards because it went against how she was teaching her kids to act. Sometimes I think Lisa is too hard on herself but I appreciate the fact she is able to not only recognize but admit her shortcomings. She comes across as extremely genuine whenever I read one of her books or see her interviewed.

Yeah,It was in her book friendship for grown ups.She said how she felt bad about it and how it was against her own beliefs and the way she teaches her daughters. We are all guilty of it at times though.I am actually trying to stop doing it as we speak. It's not easy cus you feel the need to vent about things..She is too hard on herself. But it is very comendable and i wish more people would learn from there own mistakes. If for no other reason. Then it makes you feel better as a person. But yeah Lisa is a angel. That type of girl is very rair in todays society.Young girls could really learn a lot from her.

Why am I the only one who took that comment a different way?

I took it to mean that she (Mindy) thought it was fantastic that they were all reuniting publicly (for the first time since the show ended). If I recall correctly, the main actors (Charlotte, Lisa, Kim, Mindy, and Nancy) have never all reunited publicly before. Nancy wasn't there for the reunion movie, Kim and Charlotte weren't there for the DVD promotions and interviews in 2006. From what I've read, they once all had a reunion back in the late '90s at one of their houses, but it was not done publicly.

It sounds like everyone is just taking that comment the wrong way.

I dunno. I do think Mindy was making a politically correct statement. You know? One of those comments that one makes because it is the "correct" thing to say.

If you listen to the tone of her voice when she says "publicly," she sounds annoyed. If she wasn't upset, then there would have been no reason for her to use the term "publicly" as opposed to just saying that it was great to reunite again. I took her comment to mean that it was nice for them to reunite for the public, but that she personally wasn't enjoying their private reunion. In addition to the tone of her voice, all of the confusion and muffled comments going on in the background of the interview make it clear to me that something wasn't right. Finally, in a more recent interview on Bravo, when asked if she was still in contact with former cast members, I believe she stated that she was in contact with Kim Fields and Cloris Leachman only.

I know that Lisa has very conservative, Christian viewpoints whereas Mindy is very liberal and accepting so perhaps there was some sort of rift there...

But in that interview Charolette talked about how they all got together earlier that day in Kims hotel room and hung out, so I don't know if they don't like each other I mean they all hung out earlier that day. And who knows what Kim and Mindy where doing maybe they were talking and hanging out with other celebrities or interviewers and couldn't get away at the moment to come over and talk with Nancy, Lisa and Charolette. We can't think the worst they all seemed to have nice things to say during the award show but I could be wrong even thought I don't want to think that I like having the thought that they all get along and enjoy each other.

Yes but I remember when the first season came out on DVD they had the girls promote it and Nancy, Lisa and Mindy all went and promoted the DVD Kim wasn't able to do to work and Lisa wrote about that on her website and they all seemed to get along then and also when they did the reunion movie Lisa wrote about that and they all got along then. So I don't know.

I already told everybody what happened earlier in the post. Nat and Tootie over heard Blair and Jo gossiping and got upset. But it wasn't any big deal. They made up after wards and ended up having a great time. I read this in Lisa's new book.
