Default Did you notice...?

I've been wanting to post this but I haven't known exactly where to put it, until Schmoopie posted her topic about noticing something in the episode "Back Talk." I've noticed a few different things in different episodes, and I'd love to hear what everyone else has noticed in different episodes, so I thought I'd make a place to put them.

So I'll start off with the one I've been wanting to post. And first I have to apologize, because I can't remember exactly which episode it's from, but maybe one of you will remember, or I can post it as soon as I identify it. It's season six or maybe early season 7 (before Back Talk though) and it's the one where Niles goes to the police auction with Martin and when they come back Martin says to Daphne (she's sitting on the couch) that he didn't find anything but Niles comes in the door with a big bag and says he made out like a bandit and that if he ever gets married again he's going to register there. So, did you notice that he brought her something? While he's saying that, he reaches into his bag, and while Martin has a line, we see him hand Daphne something, looks like maybe a bud vase or a candlestick holder. I can't tell for sure what it is, but she takes it, smiles, and sets it on the table in front of her. Later on in the scene, we can see it still there on the table.

I should start paying more attention to the episodes but I am definitely going to try to find this episode. I love seeing things I never noticed before!

You know what, that episode was just on earlier today, in this marathon they are showing. And I'm still not sure exactly which episode it was, but at least that narrows it down to middle of season 5 to early season 6-- but if it's season six, it's somewhere in the first 4 or 5 episodes because we're on episode 9 now and it was earlier today that it was on. Sorry I wasn't paying more attention, I forgot I was looking for this episode. Maybe it was "Frasier's Curse?" If I had dvd's I'd check. But I don't have any dvds. Sorry!

Thanks! Aw, that's too bad that you don't have the DVD's but that just makes me more impressed with your knowledge of Frasier. I feel like I'm pretty knowledgeable about Frasier and watch it all the time but, whenever I forget the name of an episode or can't remember if I've seen it (even though I've seen all of them at least three times each by now), I start to feel like maybe I'm not as big of a fan as I thought I was!

But at least this marathon on Hallmark has 'forced' me to watch some episodes I haven't seen in a long time, so that definitely helps!

It's really not as impressive as you think. I just have a really, really good memory for bits of information. I'm one of those people who can look up a telephone number, dial the number just to order a pizza and still remember the telephone number a couple of days later. And if it's something I'm interested in, it will stay in my head for pretty much forever. I have all kinds of useless, miscellaneous knowledge in my head just because it won't go away.
If I had paid attention to the episode title we needed when the episode was on, I'd know it. But I didn't. Sorry...

I was watching Bristle While You Work/Rooms with a View/Don't Go Breaking My Heart (the episodes all about Niles's heart problems) and I noticed something. In the first episode, Niles opens a bottle of water and wins a fanny pack off the cap of the bottle. He said he didn't know what one was. But apparently sometime in all the commotion either he or Daphne must have found a moment to claim the fanny pack and pick it up because in the third episode, after the surgery and while recovering on a post-operative diet, Niles shows up to Frasier's apartment with his Rye Flats in a fanny pack.

Ha ha, I was reading the script to "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" for "research" for a fan fic I wrote on that ep and the person who transcribed it added his/her own note making the same observation about the fanny pack! LOL

I was thinking today about the episode titles and I wondered why everybody has so many episodes with their name in the title-- except Niles. He only has one episode with his name in the title (My Coffee with Niles), tying him with a lot of side characters who also had a single episode with their name in it- Woody, Sam, Kenny, Julia, Kirby, Duke, Diane, even Dr Phil-- and Sherry even got two episode titles, Lilith had 3 and even Maris got 4. All the other main characters had at least five:

Daphne- 6 episode titles
Roz - 8 titles
Martin - 5 titles
Frasier - 13 titles

There were a few more episodes for every character if you make implications about who the title was referring to, but for names directly in the episode title, only that one for Niles. I'm sure it was just coincidence, but it does seem odd for the number two main character and such a big part of the success of the show.

I mentioned that on FB once having forgotten about "My Coffee With Niles". Kind of unfair that they didn't give the best character more episodes with his name in the title. But I guess I make up for that with my fanfiction b/c about 99% of my Frasier stories (and we're talking over 100!) have his name in the synopsis. I'm trying to include his name in the actual title and I think there are at least three or four of those.

Default Roz in the wings

I've noticed two episodes where Roz is waiting for her que to enter the scene. That ep where Frasier pushes her to send a message over the radio how she wanted to go out with a guy on the bus, but they got separated before she could give her number to him. (Ep. Look Before You Leap)
When Frasier is on the radio and Roz is chasing the man down the hall hitting him with the flowers he gave her, she chases him into the room and almost re-enters the hallway before the scene closes.

The other scene is when everyone is at Nile's apartment for the Halloween party. This is the episode where we find out Roz is pregnant. After everything was mixed up about who is pregnant and who the father is, Frasier is making an announcement that they don't even know if Roz is pregnant. In the background, we see Roz almost enter the scene before her que and step back before entering and making her announcement.

Hmm, I've never noticed those... I'm going to have to look for those. I love seeing little things like that.
