In this case, I do consider the source and the source has gotten it right many, many times. The NE did get the whole John Edwards/Rielle Hunter liason thing right as well as other big time stories. I wouldn't doubt NE didn't get it right this time. Erin Moran is a d-list celeb, and from info that I have read from other credible sources, Erin has not done very well for a long while now. The "flashing boob" info sounds right up Erin's alley. I read about five years ago that Erin did that sort of thing.

I don't expect every single tv actor to have a comfortable life, and like many people who are not earning big money like they did when they were on a hit show, they do have hard times. Perhaps Erin's earnings were squandered or she just didn't invest her money well. Sad to read that she ended up being evicted.

Sorry but there are several sources that I simply don't put much faith into although there have been times when they have been right including TMZ, The National Enquirer, IMDb and Wikipedia.

I actually didnt read the story because Im in a hurry but if its true, thats sad. She was one of my first celebrity crushes growing up. My question is that doesnt she get residuals(sp) or some type of paycheck based on Happy Days being on DVD? Doesnt she get money because the show is on The Hub?

TMZ and NE have gotten it right more times than I care to know.

As for residuals, Erin and everyone else connected to HD signed contracts before the VHS and DVD era. They had no concept of that being a money-maker. It was all about syndication, and even that doesn't guarantee residuals. Even if she were to be earning residuals, who knows how much she is actually getting. Maybe she likes to live beyond her means. Maybe she and her spouse don't have a great income, who knows. But if she is being evicted, that can easily be verified by NE or TMZ, which is why I do not doubt the story.

Cast members of "Happy Days" won a ruling that clears the way for a trial in their suit against CBS over the merchandising revenue from the sitcom.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Allen White on Tuesday refused to grant a summary judgment motion in favor of CBS, which owns the rights to the series. Series regulars Anson Williams, Marion Ross, Donny Most, Erin Moran, as well as Tom Bosley's widow Patricia, filed suit last year, claiming they were owned royalties on the use of their images in series merchandise.

A fraud claim in the suit was thrown out, but the actors' attorney Jon Pfeiffer continued to pursue a breach of contract claim. One issue is whether they are entitled to revenue from the sale of DVDs.

White stressed that her rejection of summary judgment is not a determination of the merits of CBS' defense, but she wrote that their legal team took "a rather convoluted path to assert the right to use (the cast members') photographs without additional compensation" in the sale of DVDs. She wrote that their argument that the cast members already are compensated via DVD sales via residuals paid by the Screen Actors Guild was "not persuasive."

She indicated that the actors have recently been paid for other types of merchandise.

A trial is scheduled to start on July 17.

I read that article when it came out. I had already read another article last year pertaining to this lawsuit. Note, Henry Winkler is not part of this lawsuit:

Henry Winkler, who played the Fonz on "Happy Days," said he supports his former cast members. "I support them because they are my family and we are as close now as we are then," Winkler told CNN in a phone interview.

Winkler said he was not part of the lawsuit because he had a separate deal and has been paid for the use of his image on merchandising. "We figured out it would be better if I was not part of the lawsuit because I had been paid and that would have muddied the waters for them probably," he said.

AND this same article mentions Erin having lost her home to foreclosure. So, I guess NE were correct in their article. Actually I already knew Erin had lost her home because this article came out last year and mentioned it then:

In 1999, Moran did receive $692 for merchandising after she said she pressed the studio, which was then Paramount Pictures. In a document sent to Moran, Paramount said she was previously paid $8,229 for merchandising, but Moran told CNN she had not received that money.

Moran declined to discuss details of her current financial situation but confirmed that last year, she lost her California home to foreclosure after attempts to work out a loan modification with her bank failed.

"It definitely could have made a difference," Most said. "I would think so, and right now it could really make a difference because (Moran) is going through a bit of a hard time."

So, Erin received $692. Paramount claims they paid Erin over $8,000, something she claims they didn't. So, basically Erin is fighting for $8,000. I wonder how much the attorneys in this case will earn?

I remember when Erin was on Celebrity Fit Club. She surely didn't need to lose weight. I think she was dealing with other issues. I don't know if she may still have issues...here are pics from that time she was on that show:

Seems like she may have issues but it makes you wonder if the money she should have gotten would have helped at all.

Those are my feelings as well. I don't know that $8,000 would have saved her home. Of course, I don't know what her finances are, but usually when one loses their home, it is because they are many months behind. There are certainly other financial issues, I am sure. I know every little bit helps, but if there are other problems...does her spouse work? Do they spend money wisely? Do they live beyond their means? So many questions. I don't think anyone can live on residuals alone. Also, is that $8,000 a one time thing she would have received or is it a yearly residual?

Inside Edition really did a number on her tonight when they went to her trailer park. It was only about 30 seconds, but it looked like they pissed her off and then turned on the camera while they sat in their car and got footage of her acting "crazy". The whole thing came off sleazy like "hey, let's have a laugh at your expense". They should have just left her alone.
