Granted I think I'd only seen it once (on DVD, although I know I've seen it many times on Hallmark but never really paid much attention), but I just read a fan fic that someone wrote that continues the last scene and it made me want to watch the episode again.
In hopes that I'm not giving anything away, there is a scene where Niles goes to see Frasier at KACL and gives him a lumbar pillow for his back as a gift. Frasier puts the pillow behind his back in the chair and seconds later his back goes out again. Frasier yells "God Almighty!" And Niles laughs and says "Well no wonder you're stressed, you've got a whole universe to run!" Then he pats Frasier on the back and kind of rubs the back of his neck before leaving. I just thought that was the sweetest thing; for Niles to show that much care and concern for his brother. I love when they add moments like that to shows. I get so irritated sometimes when all siblings seem to do is fight (on other shows, I mean) and we rarely get to see any sentimental moments. Had this been a scene between Niles and Daphne I would have been melting through the floor (just thinking about that is so meltworthy!) , but I can't seem to stop watching it anyway! True this does have a cruel (in a good way) cliffhanger at the end, but it's so worth it! The reason I keep watching this ep is because I'm trying to think of a story idea on how to continue it. BTW, I had forgotten how funny this ep is with Frasier talking to Eddie as though Eddie was a therapist, and Martin is priceless in this. And of course there's the secret that Daphne finds out and the big misunderstanding! Love it! |

"Back Talk" is one of my faves! "He meant Niles. Niles is crazy about you." Who would've through two simple sentences could change so much? *Sigh* And I have NO doubt that you'll come up w/ something, Andrea! This is an ep, just like "Daphne Hates Sherry" and a few others, that just BEGS for a rewrite. I can't wait to see what you do w/ it!

I haven't noticed that before! May have to check it out sometime. And good luck coming up with a story idea for it! I'm sure something will come to you!

I have noticed that before and thought the same thing, that it's nice to see something like that between brothers. There's a couple of other instances in the series where things like that happen, and it's mostly Niles who does it, with Frasier, with Martin, or Daphne. Just another reason we love Niles.
![]() Also, in Back Talk, did you notice just as Frasier starts his show we see Niles walk past the booth window behind him to leave, but then when Frasier starts sneezing, just near the end of the scene, we see Niles run back past the window and into the booth.
