Default What business was it of Clair and Cliff that Elvin didn't want to school to

medical school?

In the episode of "Call of the Wild" he decides he doesn't want to go to medical school because he has a issue charging SICK PEOPLE money. But that's his business and it wasn't like he was their real son.

Then you have stupid clair mad at Sondra because she didn't want to follow in her footsteps and become a lawyer

LOL. Give me Florida and James Evans over these two fools any day

Spoken like a true bachelor! LOL

Solomon, if you had a kid, would you not be upset if you spent hundreds of THOUSANDS of dollars on your daughter's education only to throw it away???

Well a college degree just shows that you are educated it doesn't lead to a job. It's all about who you know right?

Nowadays, its not even who you know anymore. That's how bad the job market is. It was a bit different in the 80's though.

It wasn't really an issue until Sondra said that she wasn't going to law school. That's what really set the bomb off. Elvin wasn't their son, but Sondra was "their baby" and they would bring down the wrath of God if their kids were making a foolish decision. It also happened with Denise when she dropped out of college and when she got married, it happened with theo when he wanted to move in with Justine, it happened with Vanessa when she snuck off to Baltimore and later when she got engaged to Dabnis.

I know, right? Afterall the money that they spent sending her to Princeton, mind you? They spent $79,---.52. And Claire "wants her money NOOOOW!"

And Cliff told Elvin that he thinks "it stinks, Palley!"

Well after I did my part in paying for her education it would be up to her what path she wanted to take.

Turn out that is what Sondra wanted to do to begin with and Elvin as well. The next season, Elvin decided to go back to medical school and episodes later, Sondra decided to go back to law school. Or should I say they decided to "go" to med and law school.

True, they did end up going to Medical School and Law School anyway later on. But I actually understand Cliff and Claire in that episode. They had spent a lot of money on Sondra's education, and she hadn't just gone to any college, but she had gone to freaking Princeton!

My issue was with cliff and clair not wanting sondra to deal with elvin because he didn't have their preferred career path.

The Huxtables were the nosiest parents, ever. Sondra and Elvin were adults, they didn't have to check in with Cliff and Clair anymore.

Thank you, both in their mid 20's and had the right to become telemarketers if they wanted to

One of my favorite episodes was when Clair took her grandkids when Sondra is sick And Sondra had a hissy fit. The first time I ever saw Clair being put in her place.

While they were adults, I actually understand Cliff and Claire that once. And I mostly don't understand them otherwise.
