Which currently running shows have ran to long and need to be put out of their misery before they get any worse!

my picks-

Although it does pain me to say this, Ally Mcbeal!

also-

that sad excuse for a sitcom, Frasier!

Becker

and also....

the truly horrible, titus, The Parkers, The steve harvey show, niki and the hugleys.

Ally McBeal def. needs to go. I used to watch this show and thought it was very funny, but the last few seasons haven't been that great.

First of all Frasier is a GREAT sitcom!

Here are the shows which need to be put out of their misery and cancelled:

"Ally McBeal" (like the original poster suggested)
"Big Brother II"
"Boston Public"
"The Family Guy"
"Frasier" (also like the original poster suggested)
"Friends"
"Just Shoot Me"
"The Simpsons"
"WWF Smackdown!" (and everything else wrestling, for that matter)
"The X Files"

WHAT THE HELL??? FAMILY GUY???

Family Guy is without a doubt the BEST animated show on television today. Regardless of how much FOX tries to kill it (being put up against Drew Carey, Friends, and a slew of other "hot" sitcoms as well as being pushed in to a new time slot every other week), it still thrives in the ratings. Well, maybe "Thrive" is too strong a word... more like it just doesn't have bad enough ratings to get cancelled.

But shows that D need to realize that they aren't funny any more include The Simpsons, Frasier, and Just Shoot Me. All three of these where great sitcoms when they first came on the air, but are now facing the 5-year rule. Have I not explained the 5-year rule? Check out my next post...

Sitcoms are all bound by what I like to call the 5-year rule (AKA "5th Season Blues"). Pretty much any show (Happy Days, Brady Bunch, and Cheers, for purposes of this demonstration) are incredibly good when they first come out. Everybody loves them and talks about them at work, and everyone is clamoring for more. The second and possibly third seasons will usually follow the same formula as the first season, trying to keep hold of the "magic" that captivated audiences. But then, during the 4th season, things start getting all freaky. The writers run out of ideas based on that original formula. Suddenly, Fonzie is part owner of Al's Restaurant, Cousin Oliver moves in with the family, and Sam sells the bar to someone who puts Rebecca Howe in charge of things.

I'm tellin' ya... it's that 5th season that makes or breaks a "clasic" show. If it is still around after the 5th season, people start talking. "Oh, it sucks"..."It's just not funny any more"..."I only watch it becuase nothing else is on". And then, sooner or later, the show finally gets cancelled.
