"True Blood" Season 5 Premiere Red Carpet

Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skargard and more of the cast of HBO's vampire drama attended the premiere event at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood on May 30.

Its fifth season kicks off on Sunday, June 10 at 9 p.m. on HBO.







Alexander Skarsgard






Alexander Skarsgard, who returns as vampire Eric Northman, signs autographs for fans.

On season five, his character will be dealing with the Vampire Authority, and will also have a visit from a family member.









Joe Manganiello






Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide, arrives at the red carpet at the ArcLight in Hollywood.

He tells THR that Alcide will be dealing with werewolf pack politics in the beginning of season five.









Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, who got married in August 2010, arrive at the season five premiere.

Their characters, Sookie and Bill, will begin the season in separate story lines as Sookie deals with Tara's possible death and Bill handles the fallout from killing a member of the Vampire Authority.









Ryan Kwanten






Ryan Kwanten, who plays Sookie's brother Jason Stackhouse on the show, poses on the carpet.

Jason had a fallout with his best friend Hoyt (Jim Parrack) after he slept with Hoyt's ex-girlfriend, vampire Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), at the end of season four.

Skarsgard and Moyer's characters, Eric and Bill, will have to work together in the beginning of season five after having killed a member of the Vampire Authority.

"True Blood" showrunner Alan Ball, who will step down as showrunner after season five, arrives for the premiere.

"My goals for season five were to just continue exploring the themes that this show allows us to explore, and to remain as exciting and entertaining as the first four seasons have been," he told THR.








Deborah Ann Woll

Her character, teen vampire Jessica, is single this season, and exploring her freedom.









Janina Gavankar






Janina Gavankar says her character, shifter Luna, will be dealing with the challenges of raising her daughter while handling threats from the werewolf community.

At the end of season four, Paquin's Sookie had juse killed werewolf Debbie (Brit Morgan), but not before Debbie shot Sookie's best friend Tara (Rutina Wesley).

Nelsan Ellis' character, Lafayette Reynolds, is nursing a broken heart in season five after the death of his boyfriend, Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), at the end of season four.

She tells THR that in season five, her character Arlene's problems will arise from her husband Terry's issues in his past.









Rutina Wesley






Rutina Wesley glammed it up on the red carpet in a black and white belted dress. Wesley's character Tara Thorton had been shot in the head at the end of season four.

On the red carpet, the actress was tight-lipped about the fate of her character.

Merlotte was surrounded by a pack of werewolves when season four ended.

Todd Lowe's character Terry Bellfleur will have a prominent storyline in season five, dealing with the cause of his PTSD, and sparked by a visit from another marine (Scott Foley).
