The show couldn't compete with NBC's hot new show at the time called Wings which led to poor ratings.

Yeah,I knew it was ratings.I didn't remember that it was in the same time slot as wings though.Which was a good show.I never saw it during the orignal run cus i was watching Tgif. But i caught it in sindication late at night.I wonder why not just move it to another time slot?

first year shows normally don't get moved to a new slot. The only time a show gets moved to a new slot is when it already generated good ratings for more than one season and then if the ratings slip then it's moved to another day.

But a show trying to prove itself has to deliver big or it's gone. And it probably did too poor to be moved

The only reason Going Places even aired at all was because it was a Miller-Boyett show, and ABC wanted an all Miller-Boyett Friday night (8-10 anyways). This caused Just the Ten of Us, which was pulling in good ratings, heck -- it was winning its time slot, to get cancelled. Which was the superior sitcom? Well Just the Ten of Us reruns aired for many years on USA after its cancellation, while you 2 are the only people I know of Planet Earth who remember Going Places.

Going Places it did not. I'll always hold a special hatred for Going Places that it caused the cancellation of Just the Ten of Us.

Oh, by the way, ABC later publicly stated that they made a boneheaded move by canceling Just the Ten of Us prematurely.

Do a search on the net. You can find a lot of people that like Just the Ten of Us. You can find a lot of people that hate Going Places.

I find it hard to believe that Just the ten of Us was pulling in better ratings than Dallas on Friday nights.
