Confused Mary Tyler Moore "Reportedly" Calling For A Boycott of 'America's Got Talent'

Raging MARY TYLER MOORE’s calling all her friends, begging them to boycott “America’s Got Talent” because it stars new judge HOWARD STERN, who told the world her ex-husband/good pal GRANT TINKER’s dead – even though he’s very much alive at age 86!

On “Late Night with JIMMY FALLON,” Stern gloated over his triumphal return to NBC after being fired in 1985 – and told by then-network chairman Tinker he’d “never work at this network again… over my dead body!”

Quipped Howard: “I think he has a dead body now, doesn’t he?…Sorry, Grant – yeah, he actually died!”

Said an insider: “Mary was shocked at Howard’s inaccuracy – and livid over his insensitivity in slamming a man she still cares for.

She’s calling friends to boycott ‘AGT’ – and asking them to call their friends!”

It may be true James, I am not 100% on that but the truth is that Howard Stern did in fact call Grant Tinker dead on several occasions recently. So....

They also previously reported Mary Tyler Moore was near death.

I know they did, the Enquirer is very suspect, but Mike Walker is a frequent guest on the Howard Stern show, or at least he used to be.

The Enquirer is a sensationalist rag, but they DO have more credibility than others of the type. Perhaps there is something to this.

The Enquirer has broken quite a few stories, most recently the John Edwards fiasco. It's not like, The Globe, and their five-headed monster stories. Like most entertainment publications, they've had to retract their share of stories, but they get a lot right. I buy it sometimes. It's loaded with pictures. Nice to see who's with who.

it sounds exactly like something Howard would say, apparently he has no moral or good-taste filter.

unfortunately, anyone that Mary could get to boycott him, probably already wants absolutely nothing to do with him already.

I was watching that night. I just thought Howard was mistaken, and not malicious in his statement that Tinker was dead. Fallon even agreed with him.

Still, as much as I love Ms. Moore, this (if true) is a silly thing to get up-in-arms about.

I agree. It's silly to try to take down an entire TV show over a personal vendetta against one person.

Mary Tyler Moore has good taste! Howard Stern is nothing but trash, a so-called family show had no business adding him.

Are you basing this statement on what the Parents' Television Council and their ilk are saying, or have you actually seen Howard Stern on America's Got Talent? I have, and he's quite tame on that show.

Why wasn't there any uproar about Sharon Osbourne being added to the show? She's been on the show for several years, yet she hadn't exactly had a reputation for being "family-friendly" prior to becoming a judge.

Howie Mandel, too. Yes, even Bobby Generic was once known for having rather blue material in his standup routine.

Oh! And Jerry "Mr. Family Entertainment" Springer once hosted the show, and David "Drunken Burger" Hasselhoff was a judge for four seasons. Why weren't people outraged about either of them being on the sacred family show?

Yeah, I wasn't entirely sure, so I had to look him up on Wikipedia!
