How many times did the 4077 bug out? I count 5.
the episode - Bugout- the C*A*V*E- When Peg & BJ orginized the party- Goodbye Farewell & Amen- When Hawkeye was being courtmartailed they talked about Frank bugging out just for practice. Is their any time that I missed? |

i don't know, but did you see the episode of Hollywood vs. History
that they did on the History Channel featuring M*A*S*H,both the movie and the series? One of the facts that they gave out was that Dr.Hooker who wrote the original novel was involved in only about one bug out himself when he was in Korea, and according to the show they did it rather poorly. |

In one ep where Colonel Potter had left Frank in charge (the ep where Hawkeye was facing a mutiny charge?) according to BJ, "Frank observed that the M in MASH stood for Mobile, so he had us move the camp. The next day we all moved back again".

I don't know the number of bug outs in the show.
I'm not quite sure what is meant by Dr Hooker's comment. The TV show didn't depict the action well? Hmm. Well they can only do so much in a half-hour sitcom. Buzz Aldrin was upset with the film "Independence Day" too; said it was unrealistic. The problem of course is that the people who actually experience these historical events (or similar events) are too close to the subject matter, and they do not allow for fictional dramatic (or comedic) license. Back to the bug outs: I do know this about the last one shown (I don't know the episode title, but it was one of the last few eps): The outdoor set, located in the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles, was destroyed in a forest fire before they finished filming the series. So when the MASH personnel returned to the camp the results of the "enemy attack" on their camp is genuine. It's just that "the enemy" was not the North Koreans, but fire. I believe that they had only the Time Capsule episode to film after that bug out ep. If you notice, that episode is filmed entirely indoors; inside the tents.

no, it wasn't. "As time goes by" (the time capsule episode) had the last scene set outdoors. But, they didn't always film on "the ranch" (the outdoor set). Some of the scenes wicch were supposed to be outdoors, were filmed on Stage 9 at 20th Century Fox
