Back in the 1970s, perhaps 1972 to 74, there was a game show on in the mornings that had a Las Vegas theme. The host had a head full of grey hair. I can't recall the name of the show.

The show you're thinking of was probably "Dealer's Choice." Taped at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, the show featured three contestants competing in various gambling games to win prizes. Bob Hastings was the original host, but he was replaced by Jack Clark.

I used to watch Dealers Choice in the 1970's. It was a good show although I no longer recall any specific details about it except for the Vegas setting. Of the two guys who hosted the show, I think Jack Clark was better than Bob Hastings. Hastings was more the actor type while Jack Clark was more of a game show guy. I would like to see repeats of this show, would be cool to see these again but I don't know if the episodes still exist anymore.
Another game show that was on around this time was Diamond Head, hosted by Bob Eubanks. Shot on location outdoors in Hawaii, Eubanks was always dressed in one of those crazy Hawaiian style shirts, and if I recall he also wore a lei. I don't remember much about this game either, but I think it was some type of question and answer game, and the winner of the game was locked in one of those see thru phone booth type contraptions where currency of various denominations was scattered on the floor. Then they turned the air blower on which blew the money all around and the contestant had a limited amount of time to grab as much cash as they could. I read somewhere once that Eubanks didn't like this show at all, but he agreed to host it anyway. |
