Question Would It Have Made Sense to Create A Spin-off For Mike, Gloria And Joey?

A Stivic spinoff, could it have worked without Archie and Edith?

Definitely, especially if it were set in 1990 or later, so they could focus on a conservative Joey clashing with his liberal parents!

Oh most definitely. I would have loved to see a show devoted to the Stivic's life on the West Coast.

Mike and Gloria, not joey. That would have been like another season 9 of all in the family when the bunkers took care of stephanie

I dunno. Suppose it would have been worth a shot. Me personally I thought Carroll & Jean were stellar - Rob Reiner & Sally Stuthers not so much. I would probably have gotten bored with this spinoff by the 3rd ep.

No, because Rob and Sally wanted to leave the show and move on to other things.

Well, a spin-off dedicated to the Stivic's on the West Coast would have been awesome. They still would have continued All in the Family. Besides, I liked Little Stephanie.

No. OConnor was the genius of that show.

If Carroll O'Connor had created a Stivic spin-off like this, it would definitely have worked. But Rob and Sally made the right decision leaving. They didn't want to be typecast.

Which didn't work out so well for Sally Struthers. A few years later, she was back playing Gloria in her own show and it was cancelled after one season. I think after that, she was most famous for the "Save The Children" commercials.

I think it would have been nice to see a show about Gloria and Mike's life after they moved and Joey grew up a bit. Although, it would have been odd to not have Archie or Edith, especially not having Archie and Mike's little arguments. Could have worked though.

I thought it was stupid to have a spinoff centered around Gloria and Joey and no Mike

That's like seeing a spinoff with

Jenny and Jessica Jefferson and No Lionel
