Okay I know this isn't the Patricia Meehan segment where she took that haunting polaroid of herself. And I am pretty sure this isn't the Swedish hitchikers either. But there was a segment when a couple of women travelling went missing and when the cops looked through their photos they noticed a reflection of a person taking a picture of both of them. They don't necessarily consider them to be a suspect but more or less would like to chat with them and ask them more info on the case. Which case was this?

That sounds really familiar. I don't remember it being on UM, but perhaps another show like AMW. Perhaps CD, the UM guru would know.

That does sound like a UM segment, are you sure it's not the Swedish hitchiker one?

Not to completely hijack this, but does anyone remember that little tidbit at the end of the "Thieves" computer crime segment in which Stack displayed a photo of an unidentified man sitting in what looked liked a recording studio? Stack said the photo was found with some stolen computer equipment and that police wanted to question this man but he wasn't a suspect.
Oddly enough, many years later I was attending a class and the teacher showed a video about identity theft and the same photo was shown in the video. |

From what I remember about the video shown in class, it was an educational awareness type deal aimed at consumers. It was basically one of those cheap videos that was a voice over random stock photos/footage with the occasional graphs and pie charts thrown in to illustrate specific points. I believe the professor said the video was produced by the F.B.I. It basically defined identity theft, gave some statistical information about it and some prevention techniques. In one portion of the video, there was a discussion about hackers getting into banking websites. The photo of the dude in the studio came up during the hacking discussion. I about fell out of my chair, it was so random. To not completely detract from the OP's questions, I too remember a segment in which it was mentioned that the authorities were searcing for a photographer. I believe Stack mentioned they were looking for the person who took the photos of Charlie Scheel; the thought being that this person may have been a friend and possibly have some information on Charlie's background. Obviously, the details don't exactly fit the OP's recollections. I want to say there was another case though that matched EXACTLY what the OP described. The only one that comes to mind is the Swedish hitchhikers. Does anyone have the original, NBC aired, version handy and can check to see if it wasn't mentioned there? If not, I can check when I get home this afternoon. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Lifetime did some editing after "Loren" was identified. A details such as that described seems like it would be ideal for the chopping block once the case is solved. |

Is it the Oba Chandler case, where Joann Rogers and her daughters were murdered and their camera film was developed looking for clues?
I went to the UM wiki site and searched for "girls", "photo", "photograph", "picture", "travel", and "camera" but none of those searches returned a result that sounds anything like the scenario mentioned. |

I know what case of which you're referring. They were able to zoom in on the reflection in that photo and after doing so, authorities are now looking for this man:
