It was one where a guy's house blew up in an explosion, forceful enough to where all 4 walls blew out in each direction. He wasn't found in the rubble and was declared missing. His body was later found 500 yards away or so. He had died from a skull fracture, presumably from flying out of the explosion and landing on his head.

The victim was 55-year-old Art Jones from Fallowfield, Pennsylvania. As far as I know, this was just a quickie "Special Alert" segment and was never covered in-depth by UM.

I'm really surprised this case was featured on UM. I found it very interesting but his house was obliterated in an explosion, wouldn't you think the woods surrounding the house would have been searched thoroughly for his body before they assume something sinister something happened to him?

I remember watching this as a Special Alert and about 30 seconds after it started there was an update.

It basically was Stack saying, "Where is Art Jones? His house exploded and he wasn't found......Update!: his body was found 500 yards away."

I just remember thinking, "wow, that was solved quickly".

Is it physically possible to get thrown 500 yards - 5 football fields - from your home after an explosion? We are talking about a half of a mile here

because he went missing in September 1991 and the episode aired in November of that year. He probably was found before they made the episode.

I heard of a case where a woman wanted to know what happened to her missing aunt and a psychic told her that her aunt died after her house exploded and her body flew many yards into the woods nearby. The psychic was right, because police later found the aunt dead in the woods, so it's possible.

I may have flubbed a bit on the story, I think it might've been 500 feet, not yards, but I'd have to see the episode again to be 100% sure and I haven't seen it in years.

Yeah that was always a great line. In researching the case, I got the impression that Jones was a bit of a homebody and that is why nobody really could understand what had happened to him. Back when this occurred there evidently was a major investigation as to what happened to Jones as evidenced by the profiling of the case on UM. Judging by the amount of ink devoted to the case, it was a pretty big local case at the time.
