One piece of trivia that some of you might be familier with is that over a decade before "Mad About You" came into being, Helen Hunt auditioned for the role of Katie Kinisky from "Gimme a Break!". After getting beaten out for the part by Kari Michaelsen, she was given a one-time guest appearance as Katie's pregnent friend Valerie in the episode "An Unmarried Couple". This was the last episode of the first season. How do you guys think that she would have done in the role of Katie. Because of how smart and sophisticated she was in this show not to mention a lot of of other parts that she has played, I would have a very hard time picturing her as someone as simple-minded, shallow and superficial as Katie Kinisky! I would like to commemorate this event by mentioning that in 1961, Katie's competition was born!
