Has 'The Big Bang Theory' Started To Become Mean Spirited???

The sweet closing moment aside, wasn’t this week’s Big Bang Theory incredibly mean-spirited, starting with a round of bachelor party toasts that were almost hard to sit through? And have Raj and Amy really been boiled down to The Effeminate One and The Sex-Obsessed Nerd Girl?

i disagree, the bachelor party toasts are supposed to be mean-spirited and humiliate the groom, unfortunately the toasters were completely inept and only had so many things to pick on Howard for.

Raj is a weird character; I don't think he is one-sided, but they have thrown in some pretty strange quirks that dominate the character.

I like Amy, I think Blossom does a good job with the character, but it shows that her dominant trait is social awkwardness and an overwhelming infatuation with Penny.

Definitely not. The show has not stooped down to the level of humor as 2 Broke Girls. It's sitll very funny and well-written.

I concur they haven't stooped to that level of low-brow humor but the writing is really starting to slide. I just wish they would make up their damn minds - either write it full of off-color sex jokes (like 99% of all modern comedy) or just stay classy. It seems like they are trying to do both and it isn't working in my eyes. While the focal point of last week's ep was a disgusting sex act, they managed to give it a sappy Full House ending as well.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. Neither Raj nor Amy have a single line of "normal" dialogue anymore. They have both been reduced to parodies of themselves. I really wish this show would get back to the basics of character development instead of beating a dead horse like far too many good sitcoms end up.

For some reason I continue to enjoy this show despite the fact it's become really easy to poke holes in the writing.
