Mill Creek Licenses 250 Sony Titles
23 Apr, 2012
By: Chris Tribbey

Minneapolis’ Mill Creek Entertainment has licensed 250 titles from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for DVD and Blu-ray Disc distribution in the United States and Canada.

The deal covers everything from the “Hostel” and “Hollow Man” franchises to classics such as Ship of Fools, Bonjour Tristesse, The Last Detail, Avalon, The Chase and Agnes of God. Many of the titles will see their first-ever Blu-ray release.

“It’s a defining moment for Mill Creek Entertainment. The sun is shining over here on the home video business,” said Jeff Hayne, VP of content acquisition for Mill Creek. “We’re going to do a lot of things where we package titles together by star, like Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal, and in other cases we’ll do that by genre. That’s been our bread and butter with DVD for a long time, and now we get to do that with Blu-ray.”

Mill Creek plans a first wave of releases included in the deal this fall. Hollywood Homicide, All the Pretty Horses and Saving Silverman are among the other well-known titles Mill Creek will release.

“This treasure trove of SPHE films represents a watershed enhancement of our growing filmed entertainment catalog,” said Ian Warfield, president and COO of Mill Creek. “We are excited to work with the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment team to deliver this amazing line-up of star-filled titles for the enjoyment of an even broader audience of consumers.”

It's already released, it's called bootleg copies that look almost as good as the originals. Buy them and stop whining and waiting for something that will probably never happen.

USA that is absolutely NOT TRUE! I have purchased Alice and a few others that were never released offically and the only difference is the quality...since they are recorded from TV, that's it! They are totally watchable to any fan. Your argument is a waste of keystrokes, you complain because you WANT a show but that show is NOT released offically, you seem to want the show right? So then buy it!

Who cares if it's "official?" It's still the same show whether or not Warner Bros. released it or whether someone recorded them and converted them to DVD's.

Also if you bought "offical discs" you would spend a hell of a lot more money. But hey, if you want to sit there thinking about those shows go right ahead lol... I make mines!

A lot of Bootleg DVD's are Scammers and only out for your money and will send you Scratchy, syndicated Cheap cuts with scenes missing or only half a epiode with sound missing with sounds missing and but picture even so they claim they are original and uncut! It's a lot better to buy them when they are OFFICIAL and released by a DVD Company like Sony, Warner Bros, Mills Creek etc.! Also I can buy them at Target and Best buy for 10-15 Dollars a Season!

I undersatand that USA (some people are "scammers"), I am NOT one of them! Just to correct you on one thing though, not everything can be bought, there are shows that were never released (for instance "Alice")...it can't be bought legally because it's never been released. It's those types of shows that I personally, am referring too. If something is offically relseased, I'll be the first to admit that I buy THAT, instead of a bootleg version. If the real thing is available, I would rather have that verses a copy but if not, a copy/bootleg is better than never having it (in my opinion.)

Huh? What's happened to friendly conversation?

This thread has taken a bizarre twist. The PR is referencing films, but perhaps it may include tv series, at least at some point?
