American Shows Only Available On DVD in Regions 2, 3 & 4

Basically, I want to start a list of American TV Shows released on DVD in other places(Regions 2,3 & 4) but not in the U.S.(Region 1). It amazes me how many American tv shows have been released in other countries, yet haven't been released in America. For instance, The Complete Series of Cybill is available in the U.K.(Region 2) and all we get in the U.S. is a best of set. Feel free to add to the list, there's no way I can list them all. I'm also going to include shows that have been released in the U.S. like ALF, which contains edited episodes in all the season sets and Happy Days Season 2 which suffers from music replacement, but are available in other countries unedited and with no music replacement.

Bewitched was released as a complete series in Japan, with new commentaries, including Erin Murphy.

Roseanne was released as a complete series in Germany, unedited episodes. Seasons 1, 8 & 9 are syndicated episodes here in the US.

What in the world is the explanation for this? This should be illegal!

add Married with Children season 4 (Germany) to that list, where all episodes were unedited, unlike the region 1 release, though it was only the german release, whereas all other region 2 releases (dutch, french etc) had edited episodes.
3rd Rock From The Sun seasons 1-2 were released unedited in the United Kingdom, where the two-part season 2 finale was presented in its original 50 (44 in r1) minute version, something that was (to my knowledge) not even included in the newly released Mill Creek season 2 sets where the remaining episodes are included.

L.A. Law is being released in the UK, and further seasons of Malcolm in the Middle are scheduled.

We need to contact the companies that own the rights to these shows! Why in the world would 2 Guys, A Girl & A Pizza Place and Automan be released in other countries and not in the US.

In the case of Little House On The Prairie, this series was released THREE times, first as individual sets, then the complete series twice!!! And to the best of my knowledge, they never replaced the cut & sped-up episodes with the first run shows. Now to find out all seasons of the series are complete and uncut in region 2!!!------

I believe season 3 of My Favorite Martian was released in Australia. I think My Fair Brady was also released in Australia but not here.

Out of This World was released as a "best of seasons 1+2" set in Germany. the theme song was altered and a lot of episodes were not included, but released nonetheless.

To date, the only DVD release of "Freddy's Nightmares" (1988-1990) is a Vol. 1 Region 2 DVD w/ the first three episodes.

Future volumes were scrapped after it didn't sell well.



Also, there is a Region 2 Vol. 3 release (Season 2) of "Baa Baa Black Sheep" (1976-1978)

Gimme A Break DVD releases

United States

Universal Studios Home Entertainment released a three-disc DVD of the complete first season of Gimme a Break! on February 14, 2006, available in the United States only. The Complete Series is now available in the US.

Canada

Visual Entertainment released the first two seasons of Gimme a Break!' on DVD in Canada between 2006-07. In 2009, VEI announced that they plan on releasing the entire series in a complete series box set in 2010.

VEI released Gimme a Break! The Complete Series on DVD in Canada on July 20, 2010.


I hoped they will release the rest of the seasons in the USA. I don't mean the box set. I already have the first season.

It is taking forever.

The first 3 Seasons of Chicago Hope are avalable on DVD in Region 2. Season 4 will be released on March 11.

The first 3 Seasons of L. A. Law are available on DVD in Region 2. Season 4 comes out on February 11 and Season 5 comes out on May 20.
