I was looking at the line-up of various TV stations and noticed that a lot of them now have hours of infomercials a day.It seems a lot of channels keep on raising the amount of these scam half hour advertisements. Now,of course(at least in my opinion) Paid Programming should be banned, but I guess that is what you get when advertisements on TV are no longer regulated/controlled.

You said it Lunch! Hundreds of Classic TV Shows languish away in Vaults while the times they could be shown are instead taken up by these shysters.
: Of course there is My way of dealing with this infestation, but I've mentioned it too many times at it is. The Sheeple refuse to look in my direction.

Yeah, they could be showing a lot more classic and/or quality programs instead of that paid junk. And something else is happenning,as I've been reading here.A number of Me and Antenna TV affiliate stations are showing Paid Programming in place a number of the shows on their regular line-up.

Actually, I think infomercial advertising keeps some cable networks afloat.

Sometimes it seems like that's all that's on tv.
Should have one channel only for all infomercials to be shown on. Wouldn't that be the loneliest channel on the face of the earth ? |

Well, nearly no one watches television at 3am and 4am anyways, so who cares? No network is going to pay big bucks for a series to air when less than 100,000 viewers are going to tune in anyways. Just put a DVD in and call it a day, its never going to change.

My main concern is what I mentioned in my second post. I don't want to see Antenna TV here have infomercials replacing some of the programs like I've read has happenned in some other places. When I was able to pick up RTV,about half the schedule was paid programming.

If informercials are really what's "paying the bills" and keeping the stations running, then we live in a sad time. Television networks and local stations were able to stay afloat for decades without having to resort to half-hour commercial spots.

Those things are like crack at 4 in the morning. I sit there sincerely thinking I really, really need this no stick frying pan only to remember I rarely, if ever, cook. (but omg you can boil chocolate on that junk and it slides right off!)
Oh, and there's this juicer. OMG, it cuts up a solid block of ice like butter. |

TiredMike, my ION affiliate used to show all paid programming all day. What a waste that was.
Yankees, granted not many people are up at 3 or 4am but what about west coast viewers? Its only midnight and 1am there. |

How else would I learn how to appreciate teenage love songs of the 50's? Seriously, how? Thank you, Time Life. |

After Disney moved most of the New Year's Day Bowl Games from ABC (Free TV) to ESPN (Pay-TV)
, I noticed most TV Stations replaced them with "Paid Programming". To counter this, I just watch the games I want to watch at a Family Sports Pub that's walking distance from my house. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than subscribing to Pay TV!
