What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Getting to the point in life where I can accept that the truth is there is no perfect happiness.

What is your greatest fear?
That I’ll never work again.

What do you dislike most about your appearance?
The fact that my face isn’t symmetrical.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
“Oh, wow!”

What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Aside from Cary Grant, it would have to be my current husband.

When and where were you happiest?
I think when we were doing The Mary Tyler Moore Show. That was the first time that I was able to, on a regular basis, be funny.

Which talent would you most like to have?
The ability to paint. And I’m not talking houses.

What is your current state of mind?
Expectant and satisfied.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
The Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
A lioness.

If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be?
A horse.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Well, first of all I’d like to change the word “deplore” to “dislike.” I guess that I’m almost a hermit; I don’t enjoy going out that much, and so I tend to take my happiness from the joys of my home and my husband.

Where would you like to live?
I think where I am right now is pretty nice.

What is your most treasured possession?
Our art collection; we have some wonderful paintings.

What is your favorite occupation?
Being an actress, and other than that, probably being a teacher.

What is your most marked characteristic?
My smile.

What is the quality you most like in a man?
Sense of humor.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Patience.

What do you most value in your friends?
Their responsibility to the friendship.

Who are your favorite writers?
Ernest Hemingway, Jim Brooks, and Allan Burns.

What is it that you most dislike?
Cruelty to animals.

How would you like to die?
Without knowing it.

What is your motto?
“I’m trying, I’m trying.”

This interview made me "Aww!" several times.

Just love her to death, not that that surprises anyone here!

And of course her smile is her most marked characteristic. I mean, it's right in the theme song! hehe!
