Apr 10, 2012 by Robyn Ross James Van Der Beek is taking a break from playing himself on "Don't Trust the B--- in Apt 23" to guest-star on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Van Der Beek, 35, will play a former friend of a doctor who's sabotaging him in the episode titled 'Father Dearest', which is currently scheduled to air May 9. "I'm going to do some more serious drama this year," Van Der Beek recently told TVGuide.com. "I love that process.
