They're both good shows but I like The Waltons a lot better.

I sure did love me some Charles Ingalls and the rest of the gang from Little House On the Prairie. I never did see even one episode of The Waltons.

Both were great shows, I'm a big Michael Landon fan, but I'll go with the Waltons here. The show dealt with deeper issues and more historical context, the Great Depression, the World Wars etc., cultural clashes within the US at the time--the Waltons, yeah, was a feel good show, but could get very intense too.

I watched and enjoyed both shows but if I had to choose between the two I'd choose The Waltons.

The Waltons was an Emmy favorite as I recall. Michael Learned, Richard Thomas, Ellen Corby and Will Geer all won multiple Emmys for their performances. LHOYP won not a one as I recall. Doesn't it mean it was less of a show, it just didn't achieve that level I guess.
I think LHOTP has achieved far better success in reruns than The Waltons. It seems LHOTP has always been on since it left the air, but The Waltons has been hit or miss in reruns over the years. For me, I found The Waltons a little slow. I never liked the kids on that show. They were bland. LHOTP had great character actors I think. |

I liked The Waltons better. Little House was a bit too over the top at times with their storylines. The Waltons was a little more grounded and I could relate to it more.
