I dont like it either but, the other option would be cutting more from the show. So pick your poison.

This is why in the initial syndicated versions of Mr. Belvedere, Perfect Strangers, Full House, and Family Matters, among others, that had long/short openings, it was decided to use the short openings on all episodes, rather than leave the openings alone, and edit good chunks of important details out of the episodes.

Wouldnt another option be to get rid of the damn commericals??!! Cant they show full episodes and full openings if they just limit the commericals?

If I remember correctly, the 1st season opening of Mork & Mindy was rather long. I can't see any reason why it couldn't be shortened.

A couple of times on Me-TV, they had episodes from Season 4 where the theme song was cut short. Sometimes, they even included the "Happy Days Again" title, which was cool.

Many Paramount TV sitcoms, particularly Cheers, Taxi, Family Ties, Webster, Mork & Mindy, did this all the time in local syndication.

And the short trauncated credits used to drive me batty on Taxi and Family Ties.

But none were as bad as the ones on others such as Lifetime reruns of The Golden Girls for example. They kept the same severly shortened intro credits from Season 3 on all episodes to no end.

On some syndicated reruns, Designing Women seemed to use a shortened version of the 5th season on almost a handful of episodes from the 1st 4 seasons, I think.

Local reruns of Boy Meets World used a severely shortened version of one of the later into credits over the earlier season credits.
