A couple of questions about Mr. Grant's office. ...


First off, what or who is that picture of hanging on the wall?

Secondly, wasn't there a window behind him in the earlier seasons that looked at a brick wall? What happened to his window?

Lastly, anybody else find Lou's office to be extremely tiny?

Are you talking about the picture of the young Lou Grant (or Ed Asner) in his football uniform?

There are blinds covering the window. When the blinds are open, they expose a window with a beautiful view of a brick wall. With that kind of view, he may as well keep them closed.

It's small, but I've seen many offices that size or smaller. Now the thing that still gets my attention is that swinging wall on the right side of his office. question 2: I 've noticed in later seasons that there is no longer a window behind him, but a wall.

These are the blinds I was referring to that, when open, reveal a window with a view of a brick wall. Aren't these blinds present throughout the series?

I always supposed that the football picture was Ed Asner himself in high school.

When you say tiny, I think you are asking was Asner shorter than the rest of the actors and the answer is probably yes. But again, when he played football back in the 1940's, he was a short, but muscular fire plug of a man. I recently saw him guest starring on The Middle with Patricia Heaton and looks very healthy as an 80 plus year old guy (more like 85).

Funny that Asner is a liberal because to me he personified his generation as tough, up from the boot straps, hard ass, learn the hard way type of old school guy.

I think you're correct. I was looking at a scene from a later episode and there's some sort of astronomical-looking picture hanging behind him instead of the window.

Yeah, I checked out the episode where Murray becomes Sue Ann Nivens producer and it was definitely gone. lol
