'Two and a Half Men' co-creator Lee Aronsohn Jokes About Women in TV, Apologizes
Ladies of television, it sounds like Lee Aronsohn has had enough of you. Period.
In an interview Sunday with The Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto Screenwriting Conference, the Two and a Half Men co-creator had some pretty bold statements to make about the current status of female-driven comedies on television… When discussing TV's recent "boom" of women-centric shows, Aronsohn proved to not be a fan, saying, "Enough, ladies. I get it. You have periods." You heard that right. Apparently there isn't enough room for penis jokes and period jokes on the small screen. With scenes as cutting edge and tasteful as this coming out of his brain, he has every right to demand that period jokes stay off TV! Aronsohn started out by speaking highly of the Chelsea Handler and Tina Fey, but only to a certain point. "We're approaching peak vagina on television, the point of labia saturation," he said. Earlier at the conference during his keynote address, Aronsohn perhaps revealed the root of his issues with this: "We're centering the show on two very damaged men. What makes men damaged? Sorry, it's women. I never got my heart broken by a man." Of course, backlash ensued, including Raising Hope's Emmy-nominated Martha Plimpton, who tweeted: "Um, Lee, women are 51% of the population & a coveted demographic for advertisers. What are you thinking?" Apparently, he asked himself the same question as Aronsohn later apologized via Twitter: "Yes, yes - it was a stupid joke. I'm sorry." Stupid? Yes. Maybe next time he might considering consulting with Fey, Handler or some other female comics. Those women are funny! Do you think his comments were out of line? Or do you agree that there are just too many women-focused shows on TV today? Read more: http://www.eonline.com/news/watch_wi...#ixzz1qwCWlgyN |

Warning: there will be swearing
Misogyny is well and alive thanks to these two twats, Chuck Lorre and this dbag. I'm sick of comedy being viewed in terms of male or female. Ah yes, because comedy with women is all about their periods...but the kind of trash these dickwranglers put out isn't a plethora of dick jokes? Hey Aronshon: Enough. We get it. You have boners. Here's how I feel about comedy. If it's funny, it's funny. If it's not funny, it's not funny. I don't care if a male or a female is in charge. The rise of female centered comedies (which, actually, are not so much female centered as they just, heaven forbid, have females as leads) is a GOOD thing because it thins the line between male and female in comedy. It unfolds what's always been true: comedy is comedy. The shape of ones nards doesn't dictate its superiority. As someone with lady bits who is looking to get into comedy, this just really pisses me the hell off. Comedy is one of THEE most demonstrative places of misogyny in our society. Women are supposed to be docile, they can't be crude or clever or witty. That makes the men uncomfortable. Well guess what? **** you, that's what. We're not going anywhere. And if you want us to, then please kindly enjoy whacking your own self off for the rest of eternity. *******. |

Yeah it's sickening someone this prominent can actually get away with saying such a douchey thing. I mean, seriously? This just adds to the pile of proof that Two and a Half Men is a wretched, wretched television program.
