Oh No I just have to say this!

Okay, there is a website called www.moviemistakes.com and it basically is a website where people can send in mistakes from TV shows or movies. It can be for anything. It can be a continuity error, a character mistake, or something off about a scene or something. Well, anyway I visit the site a lot and there are a lot of mistakes listed for Frasier. There is even an option for people to correct a mistake that someone submitted. Now someone mentioned how different Simon's accent is than Daphne's since they are supposed to be from Manchester. They were saying that Simon's accent sounds like a cockney London accent, nothing at all like Daphne's. Someone corrected them and said it's not unusual for people accents to change just because they are from a certain area of England. They can live in one area of England and have that accent and then move somewhere else and pick up that accent. Which I have to agree with.
Now I know that the different accents between Daphne and her brothers was mostly done for comedic effect, but it's also not unusual for family members to have different accents as I said before. Well, I just found it funny that they mentioned Simon's accent but not Daphne's. Since we know that Daphne is not speaking with an authentic Mancunian accent (Jane being from East London), nobody even brought it up. I mean on You Tube they nitpick on Daphne's accent all over the place but on Movie Mistakes they don't even mention it. That is why I like Movie Mistakes more than You Tube because there are such stupid people on You Tube. They leave the dumbest, rudest comments. I don't know how many times Jane has had to explain to people why she spoke the way she did as Daphne. She knew it wasn't authentic but was asked to speak it that way so people could understand her better because a Mancunian accent is so hard to understand. I thought Jane did an amazing job, and people really had no reason to criticize her about it. There were even a few times when her real accent would slip out from time to time.
Even as I watch her on HIC, I hear a bit of "Daphne" sometimes. It just makes me mad that people want to nitpick and criticize her for something as minor as her accent.
You should really check out the Movie Mistakes website, it's really neat. Okay, I'm done now.

I completely agree, but I try to stay away from those sites about movie and TV mistakes because I figure if you don't notice them, they aren't that big of a deal. I mean once I find out that something in a movie or TV show is actually a mistake, I tend to fixate on it and it ends up ruining it for me. But I hate reading stuff about people badmouthing people or shows that I like. It's beyond annoying.

That's why I had to post this. I just hate it when people badmouth other people for no other reason than to just start trouble. I also agree with you about something that is a mistake, you fixate on it and can't let it go. But actually it doesn't really bother me, I can still enjoy the show, I'm not nitpicky like other people. I just enjoy the show or shows for what they are. I mainly just go on there to see what people find or have to say and honestly I don't even go back to look for the mistake. It just bothers me that people just criticize the accents on Frasier, especially Daphne's. I like that the website didn't do that, it was a breath of fresh air. I don't know why people were so rough on Daphne the last couple of seasons of the show. I will never understand it and I don't like it.
I actually found a mistake on the episode Voyage of the Damned totally by accident. Two episodes before that one, Roz found out she was pregnant but then in this episode she was drinking what appeared to be whiskey at one point and wine at another. I wasn't even looking for it, I just happened to notice. That is the only mistake that really caught my eye and I can't let go of and it was one I found myself.

That's a good catch. I looked it up and the production code for that episode is 101 while "Halloween" (the one where she finds out for sure) and "The Kid" (the one where she decides to keep the baby) are 102 and 103. So that means Voyage of the Damned was filmed before the other two (and theoretically before the character was pregnant or knew she was pregnant) and the mistake is some producer's who wasn't paying attention when they rearranged the order of the shows for airing. If that makes you feel any better. Maybe you can just know now and mentally put it back where it belongs in the order it was filmed (right before "Halloween") every time you see it.
