Question Questions About Rhoda's Apartment???

If Rhoda made more than Mary, why did she have a much much smaller place than Mary?

Also, I noticed Rhoda had her own signature wall fixture like Mary's "M" on her wall that said "etc." I know etc stands for etcetera but did that have any other meaning to it?

Exactly, I think it might have made more sense if Mary and Rhoda became roommates. LOL

That would be more interesting.

BTW: Why does mary have a HUGE living room and her kitchen is the size of a closet?-lol

the idea was that the house was an old Victorian that had been divided up into 3 apartments, so sometimes the room sizes and arrangements are weird,

as for the size of Rhoda's apartment, she was there before mary, so maybe she just liked that apartment better despite the size, and as for her making morre, i think they established that Rhoda was terrible with money, whereas mary was much more responsible.

In the first episode, isn't there a big scene about how Mary's apartment was supposed to be Rhoda's. She had been living in the tiny one waiting for the bigger one to become available, but then Phyllis rented it out to Mary instead and Rhoda gets all ticked off until eventually she and Mary become friends. I haven't seen that episode in a long time, but I think that is the way it happened.

I was thinking the same thing: This was supposed to be a structure that was originally built as a single house, not as apartments with kitchens and bathrooms. So the room proportions wouldn't necessarily be logical as they would be in a building that was built specifically for apartments.

I missed that episode. Mary was a loyal girl though, almost to a fault.
